Always Be Cautious
One hot summer evening in June, my family and I decided to go on a camping trip to Bluestone State Park. We would be staying in a cabin, out in the middle of the woods in the park, for a whole full week. During this week, my family and I would be doing various things such as hiking, fishing, biking, and spending time on the lake. I had never been this excited to go on a trip with my family. The last place we went, Myrtle Beach, I ended up deathly sick and had to go to the hospital. However, I knew this trip was going to be amazing. The sun was shining, it was not too hot or too cold, and it was not muddy or too dry. My sister, Holly, who is not a big fan on going camping, was actually excited to go, for once, even though she was not over her sickness. We would be leaving around six in the morning and neither one of us could sleep. What in the world was we supposed to do this late at night. It was a little over three hours away, and there are lots of activities to do before we got there.
We finally made it to Hinton, West Virginia, home of Bluestone State Park. It felt weird not being at home, surrounded by my pets, and loud noises throughout the night. We checked in at the office once we arrived to the campgrounds and headed for the cabins. It felt amazing to get out of the area I was used to and spend time with my family, doing something we loved. I was so excited to see the cabin and the deer wondering out in the tall, grassy fields. It was around seven and it was starting to get dark so we decided to grill some hamburgers and hope that no wild animals would come and try to have dinner with us. Before we knew it, bedtime was just around the corner. The next morning at the breakfast table, I suggested going down to the lake and fishing instead of going hiking considering it was nice and warm outside.
Later on that evening, we returned back to the Marina, nearly starving to death. We had went

In my earlier years my family took me camping to a lake. My cousins came as well, which made it even more enjoyable. When we arrived at the campsite, I was in awe. It was something out of a Disney movie. There were towering pine trees shielding us from the sun’s rays. Wild plants and bushes surrounded our campsite, but not too far away was a clearing in the bushes where we can see the lake in all its glory. People were fishing, kayaking, swimming, and playing with their dogs.…

Six-word Memoir is a scheme originally established by a U.S founded storytelling publication. The publication aimed at presenting a podium for storytelling in all its kinds. For instance, ‘I can’t keep my own secrets’ is a six word memoir that depicts an individual’s tendency to reveal chief secrets or significant past moments in their lives. On the other hand, when I say ‘Alcohol has utterly ruined my life’, then I am simply trying to inform the reader of my continued abuse of alcohol and my bitter…

I remember the day vividly: the sizzling of food frying, children yelling, my tears running, it was the first time I adventured to Six Flags. The uneasiness of my stomach while swaying tens of feet from the ground on the Texas Giant petrified the adventurous spirit out of me. However, I did not realize that moment `would shape the next eight years of life, emerging in my memory at every unfamiliar experience I faced. It was my senior year when I declined an invitation to go camping with my friends an epiphany struck me. How many of these opportunities was I going to skip out on due to my reluctant manner?…

Typing my rough draft was a task and I did put effort into it, but not too much because it’s just a rough draft. Participating in the peer review activity in class today really made me realize even if I had put my all into the paper I still wouldn’t have wrote it to perfection. Only because it was some things I didn’t notice along the way of typing, and simple mistakes.…

When my mom first asked me if I would like to go to a sleep away camp, I was not sure if I could be away from my family for 2 weeks but my family really must have wanted to get rid of me. They kept on encouraging me to go, eventually, I was convinced, it does not hurt that 2 of my close friends were going too. Before I left I had to pack for a very long time it felt like forever. I did not know it then but I was packing all the wrong things. When the time came for me to get ready to drive up to North Carolina I was so nervous that I may have chickened out and staid at home. But at the same time I was ready to be there and exited. During the twelve hour drive my friend and I could not stop talking about all the possibilities. we had looked online a ton to see what the camp would be like. There were, mountains a huge lake and even more fun activities! Every sport you could imagine of was there. The closer we got to North Carolina the less nervous and more exited I was getting. That night it took forever to fall asleep all of the possibilities were flowing through my head, what if it wasn't fun at all but what if I had an amazing time and never wanted to come home? The next morning when I woke up we had to drive for another 3 hours to get to the camp. 3 long hours later we had arrived and I was getting more exited and less scared of being away for so long. when I walked In to the camp with my mom, my friend, and his mom, I was…

I was inspired to choose this topic because moving was a very important part of my life, it had changed me as a person. During the writing process I had struggled with showing not telling. Often times I would write things like “This had taught me that….”. After peer conferencing and revising, I had transformed my memoir so it’s more polished and professional. I really benefitted from the advice from my revisers. One of the suggestions that I was given is that I should add more inner thoughts, this had helped me add more emotion to my story and make my story more heartfelt and personal.…

A picture of my future wife, Janny, and me standing at the edge of the middle Cramer Lake is framed on our living room wall. Unfortunately, amateur photography does not accurately illustrate my memory of that day's beauty or do the scenery justice. Our satisfied smiles neglect to describe the details of nine blisters on her feet or of sleeping only five hours on the cold, lumpy ground the night before. I had moved to Idaho seven months earlier and this was my maiden voyage into the Idaho wilderness. Despite my silent discomfort and green-horn status in the world of backpacking, this picture identifies in my heart the first time I felt as if I was truly home since leaving Atlanta.…

At the age of 7, I always had to walk home from school, so it made the anticipation of going to the campground double. I was finally home from school, run upstairs, and get my things together to go camping. I would a select few items of clothing, clothes I know I would be getting mud on. The car was packed and ready; too bad the ride out there was an hour long. Never would I sleep on those car rides, it was always fun to watch out the window, seeing all the barns and acres of crops. The best part of that drive for me was seeing the horses eating grass right by our exit, horses were my obsession. I would always know when we were close, I could close my eyes and say were we were just by the feeling of each bump or hill on the road. Once I felt the car drive over the rubble I knew we had made it.…

Those who are opposed to the idea of men and women playing baseball together, often defend their argument with the belief that women are not physical capable of participating in sports. In addition they often entice the belief that women are more susceptible to injury than men. This is not a valid reason to exclude women and there is an abidance of research that refutes this claim. In addition to excluding women based on their sex, the sport of baseball is connected to racial segregation. It was believed that baseball was a white man's sport and only men who were white possessed the ability to play the sport. This ideology has filtered into present society, resulting in a few number of African Americans or people of color who participate in the sport. With that being said race is absolutely a factor in whether or not women can play baseball with men. Women who are not white are seen as inferior and they are not expected to be successful in playing baseball. There are great deal of stereotypes that surround race and a person's athletic ability. These stereotypes have been around since the "Americanization" of baseball and traces of them are still evident today. Physical size and strength, the possibility of injuries, and the color of one's skin have been used as strong reasons to prohibit women and girls from entering the world of baseball, all of these claims are absurd and false, these issues should not just be associated women due to their biological sex. Women regardless of race are just as capable as men to participate in the sport of baseball. We can alleviate and erase these myths surrounding the inferiority of women and the superiority of men in the arena of sports. To solve this problem we must start early, we must preparing girls early to have the ability and skill to play baseball amongst their male counterparts.…

The day of the trip had finally arrived! In order to get to North Carolina, we had to go through Richmond, Virginia. The ride was longer than we thought because of the construction on the road so traffic was bumper-to-bumper. It did not matter to me because I was with family. My sister and I took turns driving so that one of us could be in the back with my granddaughter. We played board games, watched the sights while driving through Virginia, and listened to music. When a song came on the radio, we all sang along even if we did not know the…
