Briar Rose is centered around one woman's Holocaust experience and intermixed with the classic fairy-tale, Sleeping Beauty. Yolen's uses of classic fairy-tale elements such as a prince and the curse of a long sleep are used to connect us to the horrors of the death camp Chelmno. The result is a story that is fresh and shocking as it tears away any of the numbness one may feel for another account of a Holocaust survivor. Suddenly the fairy-tale ideas of rescue and evil are invested with modern connotations.…

Our analysis confirms that Calyx and Corolla 's (C&C) concept of eliminating the middleman in the supply chain, thereby enabling the delivery of fresh flowers is unique, potentially game changing and if executed correctly, extremely profitable. We believe C&C’s target market consists of middle to high income men and women as well as very high income women and in order to succeed, C&C must establish itself as the top of mind provider among its targeted segment. Achieving this goal will require aggressive advertising and clever promotions that establish a luxury brand image while substantial new funding will be required in order to meet these goals. It is our recommendation that C&C implement market penetration strategy that includes both middle and high income adults in a concentrated effort to become the most recognized brand in its industry. The detailed analysis and recommendations for marketing strategy constitute the remainder of the paper.…

Calyx Flowers promoted its offerings primarily through the ten million catalogs. Of the 10 million, 5 million goes to prior customers, 2 million goes to flower recipients and 3 million goes to potential customers. This is very inefficient considering the cost of $2.2 1million for sending out 3 million catalogs to acquire new customers. And this group yield was only 1% per mailing. Effective and cost-efficient segmenting can help Calyx to optimize their marketing expenditure. Value based segmenting helps Calyx to identify the customer groups based on their needs and benefits they seek from Calyx. Freshness, longevity of flowers and speed of delivery are the core competencies of Calyx. They will have to identify the customer group that values these qualities through strategic positioning. Through value-based segmenting 2and strategic targeting3, Calyx should expand size of potential customer base and Increase brand awareness. Calyx has positioned themselves as a slightly upscale provider of flowers vs. the…

Ecuador’s Rose become famous worldwide and became the fourth large producers of roses all over the world. So, considering the international ethical issue international consumers want stronger sanctions. Consumers have right to know the ins and outs of the product they use so from my point of view government of developed countries can place trade sanctions though it will make the trade process difficult between Ecuador and other countries. Not only health of employees issues are concerned but also other issues like use of chemical, violation of labor law are involved there. Consumer’s satisfaction is the ultimate destination for the industry and target customers want full appreciation of the product Rose when they gift it to their beloved. So as per consume requirement government of that country can impose trade sanctions and ultimately they will increase the value of the product and make high belief in the products and which obviously increase the sale volume for the organization who are doing business in the ethical way properly.…
