Rob Lebow's Case
THE AGGRESSIVE AD AGENCY

SUMMARY

Rob Lebow, a director of corporate communications for Microsoft Corporation was hailed for his dynamism in the advertisement industry. It is as a result of his need to excel that he sought outside help in conducting an agency review. Mr. Lebow had high expectations in the volume of response he would have received.
One company (RGS&H) stood out amongst all applicants. This was a very young company that was in existence for only 5 years. Their business worth was impressive as the business financial standing was strong with over $26 million dollars business worth. More impressive was the fact that the company grew 65% in the past year. RGS&H was based in England but sought to become a national force, by going after high tech industries.
RGS&H further strengthen their level of expertise with the employment of Jamie Mambro and Jay Williams who were previously employed to one of Microsoft’s main competitors Lotus Corporation. Rob Lebow thought that if these new employees had prior knowledge of lotus strategy, this would be beneficial to Microsoft.

Throughout 2014, the Roanoke branch of Phoenix Advertising had excellent feedback from both clients and employees. In December of 2014, the branch had taken a turn for the worse. By January of 2015, productivity had declined and an art director and account executive had resigned. The resignations left the remainder of the employees reconsidering their positions at Phoenix Advertising. Earlier this month, I conducted an investigation at the Roanoke Branch and found there to be a few issues that need to be resolved.…

Since its inception, Ogilvy & Mather established itself as a reputable, creative and successful advertising agency. The company prided itself on having a “first class” focus on creative work and the resources to manage global and local campaign strategies, “the most local of the internationals, the most international of the locals.” During the booming 80’s the agency continued to reap profits even though their business strategy remained unchanged. The failure of Ogilvy & Mather to address the new trends in the advertising industry, such as the emergence of boutique firms and a change in fee structure, eventually led to losses of revenue, accounts, and a stark decrease in morale.…
