Are Caroline’s parents good parents? Why or Why not?
I as a foreigner am not going to be quick to say that Hwang’s parents are good nor bad. It is quite difficult for children of immigrant parents to live an easy life in America, because those parents have very high expectation from their children who they are raising here. Those children are expected to live and understand several cultures such as the one of their ancestry as well as the American culture. Hence, the complication in children of immigrant parents is strictly base on the type of parents.
First of let me say this children of immigrant parents inherit their parents culture from birth, especially when your parents were not born in America, anyone as a child of an immigrant your are expecting to put up with the standard of living of your parents and you have to live up to their expectation .Many immigrant parents often stereotype American children, they always try to keep the same system as their country on how they raise their children. Sometime what children of immigrant parents do not understand is the fact that they may be born and raised in America but that does not make you any different than your parents, however the person that you will become is solely base on who and how you were raised. Thus most of those immigrants left their country to start a new life here in America, because they think that the country offers much more opportunities than their homeland and therefore came here to have their children to profit of those opportunities.
Moreover, one of the reason why immigrants parents demand a lot more from their children compare to American parents is because they want a better life for them , unlike the life that they have when they immigrate in the USA.
