This essay will be about the career guidance interview that I had with a student doing a postgraduate in Career guidance. This essay will address the dynamics that occur during a one to one interaction between the client and the advisor. The communication skills and the techniques the advisor applied during the interview to engage with me and how I as a client responded to the interview skills used by advisor, and whether the interview had successful outcomes. This essay will also address ethics and how they were applied during the interview   . This essay will look at what skills I will need to acquire and develop in order to work with young people in the future.
I met with the advisor in the library in a meeting room which was quiet and   private had no distractions Shertzer andStone[1974]advise that   this is important during a one to one interaction as privacy is one of the core conditions that   are required during a one to one interaction as this enables the client to discuss any issues that they might have more freely without fear of interruption from external sources[ Shirtzer and Stone 1974a]During the 1st phase of the   interview   the   purpose , time   and the structure of the interview was established[Keats2000]suggests that in order for an interview to be effective the purpose and the structure of interview has to be established in the 1st phase of the interview [Keats2000]however Shertzer and Stone [1974]argues that interviews can be more successful when the advisor does not structure the interview but allows structure of the interview to develop during the interview[Shertzer and Stone1974b]During the interview   the advisor used   a variety of questioning skill such as open ended question such as tell β€˜β€™me briefly about yourself β€˜β€™ [interview, a]this type of question of question enabled me to talk about myself in detail in my own words and pace ,the advisor also asked me closed questions   and probing...
