Riordan Manufacturing is a Fortune 1000 plastics manufacturing global firm. The firm is headquartered in San Jose, California, running manufacturing facilities in Albany, Georgia, Pontiac, Michigan, and Hangzhou, China. “Riordan's major customers are automotive parts manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers, the Department of Defense, beverage makers and bottlers, and appliance manufacturers” (University of Phoenix, 2011). To accomplish customer satisfaction, and to stay competitive and profitable, the firm must make certain investments in information technology (IT). The current systems throughout the departmental functions are mostly manual, old and relic. They are highly labor intensive, expensive, and mostly inaccurate. Fortunately, the rampant growth in IT has made it possible to switch to digital business systems fairly inexpensively, and once implemented, it will revolutionize the performance and delivery of the firm. There are many providers of software packages and services, but it is highly recommended that Riordan Manufacturing adopt a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) approach from Netsuite Inc. Netsuite is suitable for small to medium size businesses (SMBs) such as Riordan, and their SaaS is affordable and risk free. The company also provides an integrated business software package that includes Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relations Management (CRM) systems. Herein, the following will look at existing systems in several departmental functions and recommends solutions supported by key points.
