Recognizing that the impact of knowledge and technology transfer from multinational enterprises (MNES) to local firms plays an important role in the process of upgrading the development of local suppliers as well as the economy in the host countries, many researchers have studied carefully these issues so far.
There have been many researches on the impact of MNEs in the host countries since the 1960s. However, to date, there has been no investigation of the potentially beneficial impact of MNEs on local suppliers through transfer of knowledge and technology in the specific case of Vietnam (page 160). This research article focuses on the issue of MNEs vertical linkages in Malaysia and Vietnam. The researcher formulated an underlying assumption behind knowledge and technology transfer between foreign firms and local suppliers which is that the suppliers’ capabilities improve as a result of the interaction with foreign customers (page 166)....
