It was one rainy night when a faint scream awakened me from my sleep. The clock spelled 12:11. Though my tender mind couldn’t quite figure out what that means I was sure it was already a deep night as the pitch black sky peeped through my open window.
I jumped out of bed and quickly tiptoed to my door. There was no more screaming from outside but a soft muffled moaning came next. I was horrified at the eerie sound creeping all over my body which gave me goosebumps. Yet I was so curious to see the ghost right there and then.
I gathered all my strength, gripped my little stubby fingers tight onto my door knob, counted 1… 2…and 3… I opened the door. Nothing. There was nothing in the blinding darkness of the sala. But when I switched the bulb on, the ghost finally appeared.
Surprisingly I looked at her closely unafraid. I just realized she was not a ghost. She was an angel. She was mama, my beautiful mama lying helpless on the couch.
“Mama!” my shrill voice echoed all over the house. I immediately loped my thin little legs down to her. “Mama, what happened to you?”
My eyes were nearly welling to see that mama was no longer beautiful. In fact, she looked more of a ghost now, like what I see on the horror films I watch during November. I don’t understand why her face was dirty and horribly ugly. When I stared at her eyes I noticed that they were watery and reddish. Below her left eye was a black swollen stuff and on her left cheek a scar. I guzzled my spit at the horrifying scene.
“Are you worried about me, daughter?” she asked with a pretending pale smile. I don’t know but it’s as if she was trying to hide a sort of mysterious pain in her lips.
“Yes, mama. I was waiting for you all night. But when I couldn’t stay any longer, I fell asleep. I didn’t even eat dinner because there was no food on the table… and papa didn’t come home again. Now mama, tell me, why are you so late today?”
“I had to work overtime in the shop, daughter, because there... [continues]
