Returning Back to School

My personal goal in life is to show my son that anything is possible and all you have to do is put your mind and heart into it. I want my son to understand that although I am a single parent and times may be hard, having a college a degree is very important. I do not want him going from dead end job to dead end job. My other personal goal is for me. I plan to open up my own day care in about ten years. I want to teach in public school for about five years. Those are the plans I have for myself. But if God points me in another direction, then I shall go that way. In this paper I will talk about my journey to returning to school.
Shortly after high school graduation I found that I was going to be blessed as a mother. In the fall I was going to start University of Wisconsin Parkside. Since I was due in February, I was only able to attend the first semester. During the first semester of school I was placed on bed rest to do complications. I fell behind in my school work, but was able to catch up with the help of my teachers. By summertime I decided to return to school and have my mom watch my son. It was a struggle, because I could not afford what I needed for school.
Three years ago, I started to think about going back to school, but I was afraid I would not be able to do it. I did not believe I could go back to school, work a full time job, and take care of my son. Two years later, I noticed that most of my friends had graduated from college, and it really made me want to complete my own education. Once I made up my mind that I wanted to continue my education, I took the first step by completing my CDA. Even though this certification helped me to move up in my current job, I knew it would not be enough to become a teacher in the public schools.
