      The following paper will be addressing how motion pictures affect race relations, and examples will be given of the impact print media advertising has, on standards of beauty. Another topic covered on this paper will be the role of individual responsibility, and accountability in response to popular culture. Finally, this paper will be explaining if an ethical approach exists to the consumption of popular culture that can minimize negative consequences.
      Race relations are defined as cultural contacts, and relations between people of different races. Race relations are affected by motions pictures in both positive and negative ways. A positive way race relations is affected is when an individual of one race sees a movie of interracial relationship, he or she can identify with the movie if he or she is going thru the same situations as the one in the movie. For example, in the movie “Save the Last Dance” is a story of an African American guy and a Caucasian girl who fall in love. The action of them falling for each other causes a bad reaction between both races; however, in the end they do not allow the issue to break up the connection they have. An individual with the same situation can identify with the matter, and use the message of the movie as inspiration to deal with their personal situation. A negative way race relations are affected is when a person of any given race, sees a movie of bad racism outcome. For example, the movie Hotel Rwanda is a true story of a hotel manager who uses his power and intelligence to save thousands of people from anti Tutsi militia.   An individual who may have had a similar situation or a family member that has had that situation can see this movie it can trigger bad feelings, depression, and even cause a person to take matters to their own hands.
