I can only imagine the movie “Life is Beautiful” was extreme controversial when is first came out. How could anyone make humor of such a tragic situation? Viewing the movie now days may not be so contentious. My personally believe the director did a great job showing what life meant to Guido and possibly actual people during the Holocaust. At the beginning of the movie, I had no idea it was going to be about the Holocaust. While viewing it I had a hard time understanding the reason for make the movie humorous. I could not find any comedy about the Holocaust, but when the movie was over I understood the true meaning. I feel like the director of the movie wanted to show people keeping a positive attitude can be a very powerful tool. In the movie Guido kept a very positive mental attitude. Guido never let anything discourage him. This allowed his son to believe everything Guido was saying. Since Guido chose to do this, his son survived the time in the concentration camp. Although Guido did not survive, he suffered for the people who were most dear to him, Dora and his son. I feel the death of Guido was a very significant because it would allow his son to truly understand everything his father did for him while at the concentration camp. When his son looks back on the events that happened, his son will realize how amazing he was. Guido loved his son so much he gave his life to protect him. The title “Life is Beautiful” is a great name for the movie. The director stated the movie off in a very happy time. The scenes were very bright. Guido was very happy and he fell in love with Dora. Obviously, Guido was happy and had a positive outlook on life. Once the movie stated to turn evil the scenes stated to become darker and darker. At the concentration camp it was very moist, foggy, and dark. Even in the dark scenes Guido made the best of what he had. The attitude Guido had at the beginning of the movie carried on. Since Guido made the best of the situation I believe the director named the movie “Life is Beautiful”. Life for everyone should be beautiful. I believe life is how you make it and in the move life is beautiful because Guido made it beautiful for himself, his family, and everyone who watched the movie. I think the main message of the movie was life is what you make of it. You must value life because at least once in everyone’s lifetime they will be challenged by it. Guido does a good job of valuing life by believing he could change fate. He wowed Dora with all of his fate changing ideas. Guido changed his son’s fait by remaining hopeful for him. I am glad I watched the movie because I can really learn a lot from it. I know I can make the best of my life by keeping a positive outlook. I must value what I have because someday my life will challenge it. If Guido can make his life and others beautiful during his hard times, then I can make my life beautiful as well.

However, no one can doubt that this novel does in fact have a lot of literary value. This novel has contributed a lot to nonfiction/memoir novels that are about being a victim in the Holocaust. He vividly illustrated his predicaments in the novel, and was a not afraid of being a little graphic where it was necessary. These boys love their dads and would be extremely devastated to lose them. Perhaps, the title should be “Things Could Be Worse.” As far as George Bailey’s, life seemed to be truly heartbreaking. It’s amazing how different the country was back then. It is a very moving film and it’s difficult not to be moved emotionally by the tragedy and senselessness of it all. It is just as vivid to the all the friends and relatives of the four little girls, as if it happened yesterday.
