Respone to Banksy
In this graphic “Red Cross” by Banksy there is many messages he is sending to us. His artwork is so powerful, and really makes the viewer think. By viewing his artwork it has opened my eyes immensely. Banksy truly captures the current events in this world. Banksy might be trying to show us what the society is doing to the poor who need medical assistance. He shows us that instead of actually helping the less fortunate we are putting it on media. Society cares more about making money off the ill then actually assisting them. I completely agree with Banksy, all we witness on television is commercials for the less fortunate. Rather than spending thousands of dollars on commercials why don’t they donate it to charities that will help people in need. Some deeper issues Banksy is pointing out is we as a society are paying too much attention to media and money.

The distinctively visual is a prominent characteristic in which the composer shapes a unique visual perspective for the responder to interpret. Using a variety of techniques and languages, the composer is distinctively able to create vibrant and lively visualisations within their work. The poetry of Douglas Stewart, in particular ‘Lady feeding the cats’ and ‘Nesting time’ and the image of ‘’Firefighters at twin towers attack’’ photographed by Todd Maisel are particularly effective. Douglas’ poems uniquely portray ordinary people and outsiders at touching and meaningful moments, experiences and connection with nature that creates an image to the reader the relationship of man and nature and how nature can challenge man with its actions. The photograph deals with a specific moment in time that captures and conveys the powerful life changing impact of the 9/11 disaster and shows devastating and appalling situation to the viewer. These texts not only bring to life others and their experiences but visually seek a connection with the viewer that enriches their own experiences through creating an image of the lively visualisations around us.…

Banksy is known around the world for his artwork creating conversations that people are too afraid to start. Although graffiti is seen as a vandalous crime, Banksy’s work is use to point out the crime that is really harming our environment and society. Politics, economics, homophobia, hypocrisy, and war are all themes used in his work to project his beliefs on the recent issues around the world. As there are many fans of this anonymous artist, there are also many people who disagree with him. Banksy’s work lies between rebellious vandalism and art that speaks for those who cannot. Banksy is a leader in his field. The fact that Banksy could take a London telephone booth cut it in half, and re-wielded it at an angle, makes it a unique form of art. Street art would be better perceived by the public if showcased appropriately as all other forms of art. With the proper venue, setting, and marketing, street art would become an acceptable, better…

If Postmodernism raises low art to the level of high art, it also allows folks who control the media to cash in on subculture. Andy Warhol made a joke of it, but Keith Haring turned the tables. When this Graffiti artist lifted his brush to the walls of subways and plastered canvases with cartoon figures he made a point: art is for everyone. You can pay big bucks if it makes you feel hip, but at its greatest, art is both social and accessible. To Haring, there was no difference between the drawings he did for free and the art he sold for thousands of dollars. Haring's work put social issues at the forefront while celebrating love and life. In 1979 he designed, printed and distributed posters for an antinuclear demonstration in Central Park. His vibrant compositions feature heavily outlined figures with no race or gender. His figures danced despite the downfall of civilization and Reagan-era politics. Celebration for celebration's sake became a very political message. Haring was committed to making his art available to everyone. He painted anti-drug messages on buildings and subways, and mass produced novelties that featured his ecstatic figures. Shortly before he died of AIDS he used his funds and notoriety to create the Keith Haring Foundation, a nonprofit organization designed to provide assistance to other nonprofits through the sale of his work.…

The sign in the visual is what really sends the message. It is a sign with a black background and white font which contrasts and puts emphasis on it. It reads in all capital letters “Planned Parenthood Kills Babies.” These have people thinking when planning for babies is okay to have, but when planning unexpectedly pregnant they try to erase it by getting an abortion. Furthermore, in the word “parenthood,” the letter ‘o’ is switched out for a skull. This emphasizes the statement as skulls are usually used to signify death. This is very effective in reinforcing the statement made by the sign as the skulls are used in the word “parenthood” which is said to be the reason for the deaths. Both techniques are effective in bringing attention to the sign in the visual. The…

While looking at different pieces from the infamous graffiti artist Banksy’s new exhibit, “Dismaland” I noticed the image of Cinderella hanging out of her overturned carriage while a group of paparazzi continue to simply take photographs. In this piece Banksy utilizes juxtaposition, ethos and logos, and also iconic figures to convey his message of the problem with the media, and how in this day and age if we see someone’s life in disarray we are more likely to watch and do nothing than to help.…

Many of these Trump images with crosses have been seen throughout the city of Melbourne located anywhere from CBD area all the way to St Kilda. However, I have seen both of the images, some with red crosses, and some without. Without the red cross being in place, we can just visualize a normal image of trump. However, the cross being displayed with red pain is a major indicator that the specific artist of the image wanted to make a point that he is very against not only Trump, but the republican party as well. As I have mentioned throughout the essay, all of the Trump images at hand are very detailed in a way to show hidden messages as to how many people in Australia feel about he new president. However, this specific image does this task with the least amount of detail. The big difference however is the fact that the street art piece has been recreated multiple times around the city rather then their being just one detailed art piece. This indicates to me that even thought this specific piece is clearly the least detailed out of the group, the artist is the most passionate of all the others since he goes out of his way to travel all over the city to make sure his piece is presented to as many areas of the city as…

Visual Argument Assignment Social media accounts have the ability to connect people from all over the globe. In a perfect world, social media’s purpose is to link its users closer together; to spread culture and make means of communication easier. Nevertheless, multiple artists have been able to depict the negative reality that social media has created. One artist in particular has designed an image that conveys such negatives by tying in key visual components that connect to the interpreter. With the use of object placement, word choice, and irony, this visual suggests the turmoil that social media has established by distracting and damaging the world more then connecting it. What initially draws the audience to the picture is more than likely…

In this photo you can clearly tell the difference between vandalism and Banksy’s work. The vandalism is the scribbled mess of irrelevant and hurtful words and Banksy’s work is the beaver who is ironically standing over a fallen sign. This piece of work is comical as well as artistic. Banksy is taking the best of a bad situation, instead of looking at the broken sign as…

Metaphors are used on an everyday basis, whether it be through music, paintings, poems, and so forth. Sometimes words on their own are not sufficient enough to depict a certain message. Where words can fail, visual art possesses the ability to convey powerful messages to an audience. “There is Always Hope”, a painting by Banksy, presents a single piece of work that can be interpreted in a variety of ways, whether they be socially or politically. Through this art piece, Banksy illustrates a sense of hope and optimism for the future; this hope can identify with the person viewing the work as they are delving with either individual issues or issues that are affecting their world around them.…
