Nairobi Anti-Drug Organization (NADO) is a non-profit non-governmental organization that combats drug addiction and drug related issues in the Nairobi Society. This group was started by former drug addicts and drug rehabilitators. Its goal is to drastically reduce drug abuse in the society of Nairobi especially the youth. NADO also seeks to provide help and aid to those suffering from drug abuse to find an escape from their addictions. Our headquarters are located at Lavington at Revan House just next to Valley Arcade. Our staff and management team is drawn from expert in different community development sectors. An Example of these is health, sociology, engineers, development works, accountants and human resource NADO has partnered with various organizations such as UNDCP, INCB and the Kenyan government in various drug and narcotics related projects all around Nairobi and also in other parts of Kenya.

Kijiji is a slum located in the midst of the suburban estates of Langata. It is populated with approximately 1500 people in atrocious shanty like slums. The slums are all clustered together in a small area of approximately 500 square meters. Nairobi anti-drug organization (NADO) is a non-governmental organization that combats drug addiction and drug related issues in the Nairobi Society. This group was started by former drug addicts and drug rehabilitators. In this project NADO will draw up a proposal to build a rehabilitation center in the Kijiji area to tackle a long standing drug abuse problem which is affecting the social life and society in the Langata area. PROBLEM STATEMENT
Kijiji is a slum located in Langata Constituency, Nairobi County. It is location lies south west of the city center and east of Karen. It is surrounded by estates with primarily maisonettes or apartment blocks. These estates include Otiende, Southlands, Ngei, Jambo estate, Onyonka, Park estate and many others. For its’ size, Kijiji slums is heavily populated. It is an area of approximately 500 square meters of slums and it’s population is about 1,500 people. Its inhabitance is mostly female casual workers and the males are touts/conductors. Most of the inhabitance is youths. It has been observed all over that the community of Kijiji especially the youths in general is susceptible to ill influences of alcoholism, smoking, substance abuse etc. Recent studies have revealed that drug abuse especially IDU (injecting drug use) has got direct impact on the spread of HIV/AIDS. Once they are caught in the endless cycle of drug abuse, they have no hope for the future. This availability of drugs has now reached the youth living in the surrounding, more well to do estate areas, who are using drugs for recreation. The building of a rehabilitation center will help alleviate the drug abuse and HIV problem in Kijiji and its surrounding area and provide the youth of the area with an option of escaping the endless cycle of addiction.
