1. Introduction
The Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) internship program is a required course for the students who are graduating from the Business Administration Department of North South University. It is a 4 credit hour course with duration of 12 weeks. Students who have completed all other required courses are eligible for conducting internship. During the internship program, I have been attached to a host organization named ‘Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited’ for 12 weeks. During this period I am learning how the host organization works with the help of the internal supervisor. While learning in this renowned organization, I have decided to make a report on “Influence of Psychological Behavior of the Customers on Investment Activities of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited”. I am going to prepare the report. Bangladesh is the third largest Muslim country in the world with around 135 million populations of which 90 percent are Muslim. The people of this country are deeply committed to Islamic way of life as enshrined in the Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah. Naturally, it remains a deep urgency in their hearts to fashion and design their economic lives in accordance with the percepts of Islam. The establishment of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited on March 13, 1983, as the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, was the reflection of this inner urge of its people. It was both a hope and a challenge to the Islam loving people of the country in general and the pioneers of the Islamic banking movement to make it a success. In the beginning there was some doubt in the minds of many people about the viability as well as the sustainability of the Islamic banking system. But the history of two decades of Islamic banking operation in Bangladesh not only removed this doubt from the minds of the people but also showed how a new banking concept based on Islamic values could so rapidly establish itself as the most modern, dynamic, and popular bank of the country. While working at the first Islamic bank of the country, I came through the opportunity to learn the investment activities that are conducted by this bank. Here I want to mention that, investment activities in Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited is similar to money lending activities of conventional banks, but the activities in Islamic bank is conducted in shariah based. My report will be based on my survey conducted in Gulshan Circle-1 branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited, as I have been working as intern in this particular branch. I will prepare the report based on my learning and data collection throughout my internship period.
