The title of this research paper is “THE EMPIRICAL STUDY ON ELECTRONIC COMMERCE DIFFUSION IN THE MALAYSIAN SHIPPING INDUSTRY”. Electronic commerce (e – commerce) refers to business transactions conducted over computer networks. This research talks about how the electronic commerce helps in the efficient functioning and processing of the Malaysian Shipping Industry. Electronic commerce has definitely proved efficient in creating desired output with an ease and even in a blink of an eye.
Electronic commerce refers to business transactions for both public and private. The business transactions which are conducted over computer networks. It’s all about electronic transactions among businesses, governments and consumers for the purpose of information retrieval. Not only that, it also involves trading, procurement purchasing and delivery of digitalized goods and services.
One of the main aspects of e – commerce is ELECTRONIC DATA INTERCHANGE. It is an important foundation block for the implementation of e business. Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) refers to the structured transmission of data between organizations by electronic means. It is used to transfer electronic documents from one computer system to another, i.e. from one trading partner to another trading partner. To harness the capability of EDI, Port Klang (Selangor, Malaysia), was facilitated with the national EDI under the government’s trade facilitation programme.
