DotA pits two teams of players against each other: the Sentinel and the Scourge. Players on the Sentinel team are based at the southwest corner of the map, and those on the Scourge team are based at the northeast corner. Each base is defended by towers and waves of units which guard the main paths leading to their base. In the center of each base is the "Ancient", a building that must be destroyed to win the game.
Each human player controls one hero, a powerful unit with unique abilities. In DotA, players on each side choose one of 112 heroes, each with different abilities and tactical advantages over other heroes. The scenario is highly team-oriented; it is difficult for one player to carry the team to victory alone.

Two teams of five players must try to destroy each other’s base. That’s it. Sounds simple right? But when XP, gold, CS, wards, lanes, ganks, Barons, dragons, and countless other variables that no doubt make little or no sense to the uninitiated are thrown into the mix, the game morphs from kindergarten math into math so complicated and complex, that even the world’s best mathematicians would struggle. I was drawn in by the simplistic masquerade, and then found myself enthralled by the intricacies and competitiveness of the game. Every facet I discovered in the game was so interesting and unique that I couldn’t look at games in the same light ever again. If I wasn’t playing League of Legends, I was wishing that I was. There wasn’t a day where I didn’t think of it, I found something I truly loved doing. I was content. And to this very day, I still…

Mid lane, where assassins and burst damage carries tend to go, and bot lane, where the ranged DPS (damage per second) carries and their supports tend to go. The jungle is sometimes considered a lane, where an assassin or tank champion tends to roam in order to collect buffs and assist in the other lanes freely. The player earns a small amount of gold every second passively, but can earn more by getting the last hit on minions, destroying enemy towers (referred to as turrets) that guard the lanes, neutral monsters located in the jungle, and killing enemy champions. With this gold, they can buy a…

Defense of the Ancients (DOTA) is a custom scenario for Warcraft III, based on the "Aeon of Strife" map for StarCraft. It is a team-strategy-game. The objective of the scenario is to destroy the opponents "Ancient". The two teams' ancients are heavily guarded structures at opposing corners of the map. Players use powerful units known as heroes, and are assisted by allied heroes and AI-controlled fighters called "creeps". As in role-playing games, players level up their hero and use gold to buy equipment during the mission. DOTA was originally developed by a map-maker named Eul. There were different DOTA variations that time. The most popular one is “Dota All Stars” which was developed by Guinsoo. When Guinsoo retired, IceFrog took over as the main programmer for the map. DOTA is more on strategy than individual play. Even though players have their own heroes, it is their teamwork that is very important to win the game. Although factors like individual skills also matter, a very good player with team mates that doesn’t care a lot about the team can’t just win by himself against all his opponents (unless of course he’s far too good and his opponents are new to the game).…
