INTRODUCTION

In a daily life of a professional, they woke up each day and start the day with their work and end the day with stress. Co-workers or officemates and the surrounding or the atmosphere of the office contributes to the factors that affect the efficiency of the work done by a person. Several factors like poverty, relationship problems, stress, psychological defects and other related problems in work affect the efficiency of a person to his best while working. Such difficulties in coping up with this problems or instances that he being like a machine that do not function may result into self-deprivation to aim for higher paying jobs. Stress is like silent killer. It starts with a headache and ends with chaos inside the mind. With proper medication and consultation with the doctor will help in coping up with stress

Under the circumstances that the researcher saw how stress tore up the aims of his older brother who was then a teller in Metrobank. He saw how his brother got ill and went depressed brought by the stress that his brother faced while at work. His brother resigned and entered a new job. His brother was promoted into a “Senior Business Analyst” within five months in the new job. He concluded that stress greatly affect work performance provided that his brother was not promoted in his position in the bank while facing stress and got promoted in his new job as a “Senior Business Analyst” within five months without stress.

The aim of this study is to enumerate the factors that affect work performance of a person. It focuses on the effects of stress and how it affects the work performance of a person. It is conducted to inform everybody what to avoid while at work to lessen the occurrence of stress and what to do when facing these kinds of problems. It tackles the causes and effects of stress in work performance. In the end of this research, it will help everyone to cope up and find solution when having stress. The research paper contains the definition of stress and terms that was used in the study, the causes and effects of stress, related problems of blue collar job upon work problems inside the office and finally the researcher’s recommendation.

Stress On Its Own Stand: Good or Bad?

Modern life is full of hassles, deadlines, frustrations, and demands. For many people, stress is so commonplace that it has become a way of life. Stress isn’t always bad. In small doses, it can help a person to perform under pressure and motivate that him to do his best. But when he is constantly running in emergency mode, his mind and body pay the price.

Maxwell defined stress as a normal physical response to events that make a person feels threatened or disturbance in his balance in some way. When a person sense danger, whether it’s real or imagined, the body's defenses kick into high gear in a rapid, automatic process known as the “fight-or-flight” reaction, or the stress response (31).

The stress response is the body’s way of protecting himself. When working properly, it helps him stay focused, energetic, and alert. In emergency situations, stress can save his life – giving him extra strength to defend...
