SAMPLE DESIGN Research Design
is conceptual structure within which research is conducted. It constitutes the blue print of collection, measurement and analysis of data .Research Design is needed because it facilitates the smooth sailing of various research operations, thereby making research as efficient as possible yielding maximum information with minimum time, effort and money. Research Design stands for advance planning of methods to be used for collecting relevant data and techniques to be used in the analysis .The design helps researcher to organize his ideas whereby it will be possible for him to look for flaws and inadequacies.

PRIMARY DATA

Primary research consists of the collection of original primary data. It is often undertaken after the researcher has gained some insight into the issue by reviewing secondary research or by analyzing previously collected primary data. It can be accomplished through various methods, including questionnaires and telephone interviews in market research, or experiments and direct observations in the physical sciences, amongst others. For the research undertaken by me we used questionnaires which included 13 questions to be asked to the retailers also observation method of the retailers was carried out simultaneously .

SECONDARY DATA

Secondary data, is data collected by someone other than the user. Common sources of secondary data for social science include censuses, organisational records and data collected through qualitative methodologies. For the research undertaken by me I undertook the help of websites as well as the newspaper for the current happenings in the besan and pulses price index .

SAMPLE DESIGN

A procedure or plan drawn up before any data are collected to obtain a sample from a given population. Also known as sampling plan; survey design The sample may be probablit sampling or non – probability sampling .probablity sampling is based on the conceot of random selection ; non- probability sampling is non random sampling Non-probability sampling is a sampling technique where the samples are gathered in a process that does not give all the individuals in the population equal chances of being selected. Probability sampling is a sampling technique where the samples are gathered in a process that gives all the individuals in the population equal chances of being selected. In my research the non probability sampling technique was used . in non probablty sampling further purposive or judgemental sampling was used . A purposive, or judgmental, sample is one that is selected based on the knowledge of a population and the purpose of the study.

POPULATION

A research population is generally a large collection of individuals or objects that is the main focus of a scientific query. It is for the benefit of the population that researches are done. A research population is also known as a well-defined collection of individuals or objects known to have similar characteristics. All individuals or objects within a certain population usually have a common, binding characteristic or trait. in most situations, it is impossible to study an entire population. We typically study a subset of people drawn from a larger population and use inferential statistics to make an inference from the sample back to the population. The validity of that inference depends on how representative the sample or subset is of the population from which it is drawn. Our goal, as researchers, is to obtain the most representative sample that we can the population targeted in my research were the 300 retailers from the nasik city spread through out the city .

SAMPLE SIZE

Sample size determination is the act of choosing the number of observations or replicates to include in a statistical sample. The sample size is an important feature of any empirical study in which the goal is to make inferences about a population from a sample. In practice, the sample...
