Fossil Fuel: Coal

Renewable Energy Resource: Solar power

Describe this resource: Coal is a nonrenewable resource but for Solar power it is an renewable resource

Advantages of this resource: Coal has a large source of energy than natural gases and oil. Coal has power that is not from weather that is formed by wind and solar power.
Solar power cannot create pollution and it is also a renewable resource.

Disadvantages of this resource:Coal can burn dirty coal and that can create big pollution that is caused by many problems. Coal can be transported because it requires an extensive transportation system and other additional pollution. For solar power can't be created during the night it needs sun to do its work and another thing is that it has a high cost.

How does collecting this resource effect the environment?
Well coal can't be renewable because it has air pollution that will burn and the other is that people cannot breath that kind of air cause it will lead to death.

How does using this resource effect the environment?
Coal is a harmful air pollution and for solar power its energy for the electricity and weather.

Compare the cost of both resources. Which is more expensive to create? Which is more expensive to use?
To build coal is the most expensive bur using it is not expensive. Solar power is expensive to use cause it is needed to create energy from the sun and using that equipment is pricey.

What technology is involved in gathering or using this resource?
Using solar panels from the sun and quarry coal to extract it from the coal.
How do we use this resource to generate electricity?
Burning coal to make it into fuel to make it generate electricity and for the solar power it is used to take rays from the sun and manage the electricity.

What are the potential hazards associated with using and this resource?

Energy is an important factor in todays society, it is neccesary to power business, manufacturing and the transportation of goods and services all around the world. Solar powered energy is energy from the sun. This energy can be conerted into different energy like heat and electricity. Heat can be used to heat water or heat spaces, for example heating for houses, buildings or even swimming pools. Solar energy can be converted in two ways, by Photovoltaic or “solar cells” which change sunlight directly into electricity or by concentrating solar power plants which generate electricity by using heat from solar thermal collectors. Coal powered energy has played an important role in the advancement of civilization and will continue to be a major fuel source for at least the next quarter century. It is used primarly to produce electricty and heat through a dirty process which involves mining and combustion of the fuel. The two most common types of coal mining used today are surface mining and underground mining. In the long run, solar energy has greater potential than coal powered energy.…

Electricity is something that is used worldwide, in different ways. People don’t ever think about where it comes from or the effects it has. According to the article, worldwide, about 45% of energy is generated from burning coal. Many people don’t see the many effects of burning coal. When coal is burned, products such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides are released into the atmosphere. Coal is one of the most common used ways to generate electricity covering 40% of all energy made today. The thing is coal is estimated to only last 100 more years. There are other alternatives such as wind energy. Wind energy has many reasons as to why it’s better such as it is a renewable fuel source, it has no ongoing fuel costs, and…
