ABSTRACT
In order to be eligible for the Bachelors of Mechanical (Honors) Degree, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) students are required to undergo training in real engineering situations as required by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM). This is also a requirement set by the Engineering Accreditation Council Malaysia (EAC) in order for UNITEN to have its engineering courses recognized. The main objectives of the Industrial Training course are to have the engineering students exposed to various aspects of industrial practices and ethics in a real world working environment, and to have the students appreciate the significance of theoretical knowledge in real world engineering situations. As an outcome of this programme, students are expected to be able to appreciate the importance of being a professional and ethical engineer. Students are also expected to be able to potray correct attitude and commitment in performing any tasks assigned. Aside from giving students the opportunity to experiences real working situations, Industrial Training course will also prepare the students for the working environment after they have graduated. Students were given the opportunity to apply to their own company of choice for the Industrial Training. I was offered a placement in AirAsia Berhad in the Ground Support Equipment Department from 25th January 2012 until 20th April 2012 for an effective period of 13 weeks.
