I. Introduction

This report is in response to the Managing Change in Organisations assignment as part of the Masters of Business Administration programme.
I have chosen to evaluate a change initiative within the organisation in which I work. I also played a key role in the change process as part of the team responsible for managing the consultation process relating to the process as the Communications and Marketing Manager. This was a senior middle management role answering directly to a director.
II. The Task

In reviewing the overall proposal I will identify the main objectives behind the change and discuss the rationale underpinning the process, examining both the drivers and need for change, applying appropriate models and frameworks. I will also critically review how the process was managed including resistance encountered. Finally I will assess to what extent the change was successful in meeting the objectives set out and what was gleaned from the process for the future.
III. Background and Context

As a public body, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) are answerable to a Combined Fire Authority, made up from four constituent Local Authority areas. The Authority itself in composed of Elected Members proportionally representing each area and political party.
