this i have discovered through research into German soviet formalist vladamir propp (1928), who analysed the basic plot components of russian folk tales and fairy tales in order to identify their simplest narrative elements through defining a tale into a series of sequences hat occurred within the russian fairytale by deconstructing the story into 31 functions, A method i intend to use to to deconstruct fairy tales and their film adaptations.

to support my argument I have chosen to look at one of the most well known classic fairy tales,Snow White

1 Snow White is a German fairy tale and today one of the oldest and most classic fairy tales known worldwide. The original story was created by the Brothers Grimm who collected and published a number of European folktales in the early 19th century. The fairy tales of Snow White was collected in 1812, titled in German as Schneewittchen, tale no. 53. before completion of final version of the tale in 1857. Snow White tells the story of a queen who lived in a castle. Her mother had wished for a girl with lips as red as roses,hair as dark as ebony and skin as white as snow. she fulfills this wish and gives birth to daughter whom she named snow White, but dies shortly after the birth. A year later the king remarries but the new queen is so overcome with jealousy over Snow Whites beauty that she sets out to kill her by hiring a huntsman. The killing is unsuccessful because the huntsman chooses not to kill her and snow white flees into the forest where she meets a group of dwarfs who accept her and demand that Snow White work and cook for them in order for her to have their protection from the evil queen.
