Religion has been part of us since the beginning of time. There are many different religions in the world. Some religions are similar while others are very different. Religions are made up mostly of traditions that have been passed down throughout generations. The cultures that people are born into will most likely affect the religion in which they are involved in. It is crucial that we learn the different types of religions and understand their meanings so when we are surrounded by a group of people of different religions we don’t offend anyone. We live in a country that is very diverse and there are many types of different religions that people study in America. When studying religion it is very important to remain open-minded. Religion is where individual’s values are derived from. When in a group environment it is important to realize that everyone views the world differently and no religion is right or wrong. If you can understand where people are coming from it will most likely relieve future conflict. You will better understand why people make certain decisions. Studying religion can give you a greater outlook on the world and the behaviors of people of different cultures. When you live in a country that is so diverse you want to have a better understanding of the people around you. People will have a lot of respect for you if you can identify with their religions. Three religions that are very similar are the three western religions. The religions are Judiaism, Christianity, & Islam. All three of them believe in monotheism. All three of them have a holy book and believe there will be a day of judgment that will dictate the outcome of their afterlife. Another thing they believe is that Jerusalem is a holy city.
