Our society is not moving toward the type of society depicted in Brave New World in the area of relationships. In today’s society, relationships are an important aspect in most people’s lives. Both men and women dream about finding “the one.” There are websites devoted just for helping civilians start a relationship and settle down happily. Unlike Brave New World where long term relationships are frowned upon. Brave New Worlds society doesn’t support committed relationships and strongly influences their citizens to have open relationships and date multiple people at once. As opposed to here, where cheating on your partner is one of the worst things a person can do. As the years go on things are continually changing and developing. But one thing that hasn’t ever truly changed is relationships. People still find committed relationships an important part of life. Not only to they spend their time trying to find someone they want to spend the rest of their life with but also they are just looking for the right person to love. Love in relationships has remained the same for centuries. When you love someone you want to be in a relationship with them and eventually marry them. In Brave New World’s society love doesn’t exist, lust is the only thing relatively close to love. In our society love is something everyone dreams of. Finding the right person for you and spending the rest of your life with them. And as our society progresses the desire for love remains the same. As opposed to their society in which love is merely just a word. Relationships there are laid back, and unimportant. There is no need to become attached to a single person, the way we need it. The way we depend on other people for happiness. As our world progresses, our relationship style remains the same. Relationships are full of love and compassion, the way they always have been. No different from 50 years ago nor 50 years ahead.
