A family makes and adds to a child’s personality. How people act and what you are in life is associated to your family, a child learns the most from their family life. The way your family interacts with you and others has a lifelong effect on your personality. Keeping in view all these facts the importance of your family life cannot be denied. Family unit happens to be the most important part of your life till you grow up.…
When I was much, much younger, my family was pretty much everything my life was about. I was never a terribly social child while I was growing up and going through preschool and elementary school, I mean I had the friends who I met at school that I was friends with and enjoyed at school, but when I went home everything was about my family. I always had my sister, who was my best relatively-close-to-my-age friend for a good while because I had yet to really get to know anyone as well as I knew her, and then there were my parents. I was always super duper close to my parents when I was younger, mainly my mom because I was the youngest and she coddled me so much and it was great and we loved each other very much. I always looked up to my dad…
Murdoch (1949) claimed the family was a universal institution. He studied 250 societies and found the family, in some form, was present in all of them. This suggests that families are necessary in some way, whether it be for societies to survive, for individual well-being or indeed both.…
Since the creation of humans, the world’s inhabitants have needed human connections and family. Adam needed eve, a newborn baby needs his parents, the monster from Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (1831) needed a family, and Michael from Michael by William Wordsworth (1800) identified himself by his love for his son, Luke. The way a child grows up and the involvement of his family plays a large role in the development of character and his outlook on life. If fathers and mothers did not leave, if siblings always took care of each other, and if there was no betrayal within home life, maybe the world would look significantly different than it does today. Although human relationships in general are a vital part to life, family relationships are the…
Many individuals would argue that family can only be people who are genetically related to you, and it is an understood commitment to always help each other. While in a perfect world this would be beautiful, we must look at the cases where people are hurt by those who are related to them, is it right to criticize them for not claiming them as family? Related family should be respected, however who you claim as your family does not need to be blood…
"You must remember, family is often born of blood, but it doesn't depend on blood. Nor is it exclusive of friendship. Family members can be your best friends, you know. And best friends, whether or not they are related to you, can be your family" (Pg. 257).…
My first reason why family is important to my life is because they have always been there for me. Many of my peers succeed at certain sports or even various classes like English or Calculus. Although, I did struggle with my other activities and curriculum classes, family has always been there. Throughout middle school and high school, I competed with my friend for captain of the soccer team. I didn’t beat him until eighth grade when my hard work finally paid off. Because of this, I now realize how dedication and persistence can help someone achieve one’s goals. If I never decided to join the soccer team and compete for first captain, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to challenge myself and gain the skills and characteristics that would benefit me throughout the rest of my life, if it had not been for my family pushing me to excel.…
The family shapes values that are demonstrated in later life. These values may be enhanced or challenged by life experiences, but the base is forged in the family.…
In my immediate family there’s my mom and dad, Jill and Dean and my sister, Cassie. But I have other family that I’m close with. First there are my cousins, Sam and Callum. Then there’s my grandparents, Molly, Renee, Barbra, and Sam. On top of that there’s my aunts and uncles. I have my Uncle Jack, my uncle John and my aunt Joss. But that’s just my family that I’m close with.…
The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing. Family is the best thing you could ever ask for. They are there for you during the ups and downs and love you no matter what happens. You might be exactly alike, or extremely different but overall blood makes you related but the love you give/ have makes you family.…
When I think of the word “Family”, I take in everything from my life to think of an answer. My definition of family is anyone who will be there for you through the rough times. They don’t necessarily have to be blood related, though this is the common thought when thinking about family, but they just have to be there for you. The official definition of family is the most basic unit of civilization in organized life. Experts define family in two ways. The first way is nuclear family; those included in this group are mothers, fathers, sisters and/or brothers. The second way is extended family. These people are like grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Like I mentioned above this is how experts define family, not common people.…
Family plays an important role in the development of each individual. A newborn baby is not born to the world with good or bad characters. Character is acquired from the environment where the children grow up. The shaping of basic character of everyone is happening at his or her home. Parents are the role models for the children. Each parent is responsible for building a healthy family and thus a healthy community. The structure of each family is based on each individual in the family.…
For a long time growing up, family was (to me) only those related by blood or marriage; believing family would help one another and always be open, honest, and nurturing. Although I still believe in my ideas of family, my family is no longer limited by a signed piece of paper or a DNA test. Before I tell you the people I still consider my family you must know that blood related I have: my mother, father, three siblings, and an extended family counting upwards of 200 people. At this moment in time, I only consider…
The family is the basic unit of society. Families are composed of parents and their children who live in a community. In the case of the United States of America, there are myriad challenges to families that affect teenagers. The common problems that beset teenagers are drug abuse, alcohol abuse, sexual molestation and teenage pregnancy. Research findings state that in the year 2008, 35.6% of students had had six or more drinks of alcoholic beverages on at least one occasion (Dew, 2009, p. 1). In addition, 70% of eleventh grade students have had at least one drink of alcoholic beverages during their lifetime through the influence of friends and family members (Dew, 2009, p. 1). Hence, the problem of alcohol abuse has escalated through the years. The problem on drug abuse has increased through the years since according to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, there were 9.5% of teenagers aged 12 to 17 who are currently drug users nowadays (Aldworth et. al., 2007, p. 45). These problems are results of the weakening of family values and ethical standards which make teenagers deviate from the norms. In other words, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, sexual molestation, commission of crimes and teenage pregnancy create challenges for families.…
In term of family, parent is our strongest influencer. ‘Spare the rod and spoil the child,’ best described it. However, nowadays, most of the parents are either over coddle or neglect with their children. Substantially, this partially caused the drug trafficking issues among teenagers. Other than providing shelter, parents are also responsible in guiding their children to live the right way. Other than being the exemplars, immediate actions such as reporting the involved parties to the police or sending their drug taking children to the nearest rehabilitation center whenever a drug trafficking activity is spotted. Hesitation will only further deepen the ‘pit’.…
