Functions of Management
What we have learned about the four functions of management is if you specify the objectives that are required to achieve your specific goal in the planning stage, you can manage the success in achieving your goal more steadily. With your planning you then flow your plans into an organized list of actions to know what steps you have taken and the steps that you still need to take in order to reach the desired goal. Week three was highlighted by the discussion of fixed assets and the use of accounting for depreciation of those assets. Businesses utilize depreciation of their fixed assets to take advantage of the tax breaks that they receive. The cost of depreciation of assets lowers the taxable income of a company and in turn allows either a higher refund or less owed in taxes. Another option that is available is the use of accelerated depreciation. This option allows for companies to accelerate the depreciation of assets to a current year's return to gain a higher tax break. The use of this tool is usually implemented in times of economic turmoil to stimulate the economy.…

The information that I was having a problem with in last week’s reading was dealing with Notes Receivables. I was having a hard time taking in why and where it would be coded on the books. I took a little extra time this week to gather information so therefore I could have a better understanding. Notes receivable is an asset of a company, bank or other organization that holds a written promissory note from another party. For example, if a company lends one of its suppliers $10,000 and the supplier signs a written promise to repay the amount, the company will enter the amount in its asset account Notes Receivable. The supplier will also enter the amount in its liability account…

I felt sad for Mr. Gill, one of the main reasons being that I have personally been in a MVC myself which brought up the similar feelings, such as anxiety and chronic pain that Mr. Gill expressed. It felt like despite the differences in our age or situation, the pain he was expressing I could relate to directly. Another reason for feeling sadness for him was that he reminded me so much of my own father in appearance and nature. During the session, he referred to me as someone who is like his daughter and that he felt comfortable sharing information with me. I think this moment caused a shift in our therapeutic relationship, in which I felt even more inclined to show him respect and to provide encouragement on his development. The language barriers he faced in getting treatment made me feel angry towards the system. Unfortunately, MVC are common occurrences in our society thus, I imagined that the support systems would have been set in place for survivors to reduce the effects of physical and psychological harms.…

When most think of management, images of someone controlling or wielding power may come to mind. I feel that not only is this description very limited to what it means to manage but that some may share this view due to bad experience or misinformation. I feel that management should be imagined or even defined in a broader sense. I define management as the process of monitoring, guiding or directing a group of people or things, and as the process of making decisions and then implementing them so as to change, improve or maintain balance.…

Subsequent to looking into my outcomes, I was stunned with my outcomes as I had said in my week 2 assignment that I need to improve my communication skills. I discovered that I have to defer my assessment until the individual has transferred the message completely. I have wound up now and again that I don't listen as nearly as I ought to when it's about something I think I know the responses to. According to the textbook “By paying full attention to the speaker, you are able to focus on the key elements of the message being sent” (De Janasz, Dowd, & Schneider, 2015, p. 136) So as to enhance this I should hold up until the message has been transferred before I make any conclusions regardless of whether I think I recognize what will be said.…

The most important point of this week’s reading is stating that the planners will have an organized plan for improvement in society. For example, the planners will work on making room for growth and industry after creating the towns and cities. One way to make that plan to happen is by starting to build places where the people would prefer to live, work, or shop; this would create a city. By the 19th century, the nation was filled with towns and cities from coast to coast. Once a town or a city is built, then that is when improvement could begin. Some cities have may environmental concerns that need to be dealt with; Massachusetts is one example. Massachusetts formed the Metropolitan District Commission which is responsible for regional sewerage and water. This was created to eliminate the environmental…
