My Experience of College
Reflective Essay When I first arrived at ODU I was excited; excited to start someplace new. I can’t really say I was nervous because I wasn’t. College is just more schooling, just like high school. Compared to my first few weeks my stress level is the same. I don’t tend to get too flustered about anything. Also, my class load is pretty light so there isn’t really anything to get stressed about. It’s a good and a bad thing I guess. I am not too sure about my midterm grades. I think they are going to be split. Math and Politics are going to be okay but English and Philosophy are bad. What has hurt my grades has been skipping class. I would skip and then not turn something in as well as not knowing what was due the next class. With that being said the thing that has helped me the most is attending class. What a concept. You go to class and you pass. You skip class and you fail. The best thing that I could do to improve my grades between now and the final exams in my other classes is to go to every class and completing and turning in every assignment. However, that is what I need the most help with. I feel like something is mentally wrong with me because I know that there is a problem but I don’t do anything to fix it. I can’t get motivated. I need to work on all of that. What I have learned is that I have absolutely no clue about what I want to do. That regards to everything. What I want to major in, what I want to do for a job, everything. What I haven’t learned is what to do about it. I will just have to figure that out as the year

This semester has been a little difficult for me; I have faced many challenges and still have more to come. Classes have been hard to adjust to but I have tried my hardest and put my best foot forward. The main two classes that I feel I am struggling in right now are English 1000 and Math 1090. I feel these are my hardest classes because English is a weak subject for me and coming into college English is a big step for me. I have a big problem with my writing and the way I word my papers therefore English is a weakness of mine. Math is another weakness of mine because when I learn new things and I don’t understand them I don’t usually tend to ask for help and in math you learn something new every day. I was very good at math…

I had some challenges in the first semester. I realized that it gets harder every year. I felt like ninth grade was a bit easier than this year. The final for English was easy. There were only two questions. We took a final for the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird. My goal is to have good grades, but also pass every class so that I don’t have to retake any. I want to be able to graduate on time. It always gets hard when almost end of the semester. That is the time when teachers start to give out more work. It’s a good idea but the same time bad. It can help bring grades up for some people. Most people are lazy so they rather not do it and fail the semester. My challenge was trying to focus with so many distractions in the way.…

My mind was very weak and I couldn’t focus so it left little time to study. I have gotten back in a grove of things since Christmas Break and school now is going great. I had to focus on the bigger picture staying in college and running track so now I have dedicated all my time to study, I have had this approved by my work. I have also retaken 1 of the 2 classes that was hurting my GPA, the first class is Math and so far I’m doing great in it and I am dedicated to get a B in that .The second class I am currently taking is my English Class and I am averaging an B in the class with only 2 papers left, which is a big improvement from the original grade of an…

Throughout every college experience there are two sides to every story. The text made me realize, through vivid examples that I remember learning when I was younger, such as the gods and the giants, something that I have been told since I was young. That I have to always think twice before I think say or do anything.…

It was the morning of move in day. I said goodbye to my home and headed out. I passed the local shopping market and my high school where I enjoyed a fun four years. As I headed to Norman I realized I was leaving everything I had ever known. All my life has consisted of living in the same house, going to school with the same kids, and going to the same supermarkets and restaurants. While I’d like to say I have developed a good idea of the world around me by visiting so many cities around the United States, in reality the only world I’ve ever known is the same one I have spent my whole life in. I have loved growing up in Northwest Oklahoma City with the friends that have helped shaped me into who I am today, however I relished the opportunity…

I remember the few days before my first class how I was nervous and paranoid about the workload that is psychologically attached to the Applied Science program.. Entering UBC, I only knew one other person going into the applied science program, so I felt alone wanting to go back to my hometown where all my friends were. However, on my first day at UBC on Imagine Day my entire orientation group was made up first year engineers just like me. Each and everyone of them were feeling nervous, however, each person was there that day to make new lifelong friends. The members from my orientation group were all in the same course timetable with me, leading to a number strong new friendships with whom you spend time with after school. During my first week I was fretting over the workload, and consistently thinking about how much work I was going to be assigned.…

Everyone has heard or been told, “high school is what you make of it.” High school is in fact what you make of it, but it is also the time of great change in everybody. They say HIGH SCHOOL is the best part of growing up and being a teenager. It is where we can experience things, which we thought we can never make or do. It is where we discover and learn things in our own and it is where we learn to become independent. In my four years of studying here, I discovered that there is more to life than what we had imagined. I am able to learn many things based on what my teachers had taught me and based on my own experiences. I am able to know and to be acquainted with myself more and I am able to distinguish my capabilities and talents. I am able to gain friends and I am able to socialize and mingle more with the people around me.…
