The Most Decisive Moment in my Life

Last year was the most turbulent period of my life. I spent the whole of it in pubs drinking beer and gaming girls. I didn’t pass the baccalaureate exam, nor did I live up to my family’s expectations; I was the most disappointing and miserable member of my family. At first, they were looking after me and trying to guide me, but in the end, they forsook me and left me to myself. They started demeaning me and considering me as a burden who tarnished the family’s reputation, and who didn’t stick to the rules. Due to that, I almost committed suicide and ended my pathetic life. However, one day, everything has changed. I have turned from that pathetic family member to that person who everyone is proud of. I went with my friends to the beach. We sat beside a pretty foreign girl who attracted me and my entire group. I started making some moves and dancing in front of her aiming to get her attention, but she ignored me and pretended as I wasn’t there. After that, I saw her staring at me and giving me the same look of underestimating as my family did. I felt like my chest would blow up, and I also felt that girl somehow managed to realize that all the enthusiasm that I had shown her before was just a cover to hide my true feeling. At that moment, every bone of my body was shaking, and I almost lost control and unleashed all my fury on her. Fortunately, my friends rectified the situation by asking me to play football. After that, I went swimming with them even though I was barely walking because the football game tired me. Nevertheless, the cold water stimulated my body and replenished my energy, so we started swimming fast and trying to catch up with one another. However, in a blink, my energy left me. I stopped to take a breath, yet there was nothing to stand on. My heart started pounding quickly. My body was paralyzed from fear, and

In this task I will be reflecting upon an incident undertaken on area of my work. The model of reflection I’ve chosen is Gibbs (1988), which involves reflection on the description, feelings, evaluation, conclusion and action plan (Gibbs 1988). The Gibbs (1988) reflective cycle is fairly straightforward and encourages a clear description of the situation, analysis of feelings, evaluation of the experience, analysis to make sense of the experience, conclusion where other options are considered and reflection upon experience to examine what you would do if the situation arose again. The procedure in which I will be reflecting upon is Last offices; I chose this due to how constructive and valuable it was in my personal and professional development as a student practitioner nurse.…

“Never change who you are to please people”, “There is nothing you can’t do” and “We are proud of you no matter what” are three very common phrases used within a family. Parents especially use these (among many others) to teach their children to be comfortable with who they are so that it is easier for them to find their place in the world. Even when we are merely a thought, our parents begin planning our lives; what we should get out of it and what they need to do to help us reach our full potential. When we don’t understand what is happening, the fact that so much effort is put into us can be a frightening prospect; however our family consists of the people that will always be there. Our siblings are generally the people we trust more than anyone. We turn to them for assistance, advice and guidance and feel their absence both physically and emotionally. They are the ones we aspire to be like and arguably have the most impact on where we belong. Our family cannot be changed or replaced. You cannot give up on them because through the hardships and struggles, as well as the triumphs and successes, you will always be linked to them. There is no bond greater than that of a family and by accepting those around you, you accept yourself and build your identity from that unconditional love and unbreakable trust.…

I got dressed and ran to go eat breakfast, exited to see what fun activities we were going to do. My mom said we could explore, swim, or we could find something to go to that’s around us. I decided to go swimming with Evan and we played football on the beach. As I got sunburnt more and more I saw dolphins really close to shore. I thought was really cool as I could see their outline in the water. Later that day I saw them again and a women that lived there said that you can swim with them. I ran on the beach to the house to go get my suit to swim with them. I was running on an old wood dock and as I was running I heard a sharp snap from under me. My sister heard my fall and walked to me to make sure I was ok. I couldn’t feel my leg as if it was a fish that couldn’t flop anymore. My sister screamed bloody murder as if she was in a horror movie. Not understanding why I looked at my knee and then a flaming pain lit my leg as if it’s on fire. My knee had been split because a board had went into my knee and tore it open. My mom ran out as if she was supermom and saw the problem as fat hung out of my knee. I tried to walk as the cut was so deep until I started walking and it started gushing blood.…

As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. In a small school of about 400 kids, I was familiar with every face that passed by me in the hallway. I got to know the kids in my grade so well and we all knew each other’s life stories. By the time I was in 6th grade at Saint Joseph, some of my friends were planning on going to Kinard middle school in 7th grade. At this point in my life, I was not completely content with where I was going to school. The realization came to me that it was time to move on. It was time for me to try something new.…
