Reflective Essay
April 20, 1995 marks the beginning for a newborn boy about to embark on the greatest journey of all, life. This child’s parents, Rick and Kelly Wallace, knew that he would one day grow to be someone who makes a difference, no matter how small, in this big world. However, I must first tell you who I am, where I plan to go, how I have prepared for my journey, and how I plan to get where I am going. Now I introduce myself, Zachariah Gabriel Dull Wallace. With a love for anything mechanical I have decided that there is no career that would suit me better than one in Engineering. You know my name, but you must also learn who I am as a person. I believe myself to be a very responsible and respectful person especially when it comes to being graced with very lucrative opportunities such as going to a University to compete in football at a collegiate level. I find myself to be quite perseverant when it comes to sports and school because these things are very important to me and my future. Football has boosted my self confidence more than anything and is going to help send me through college and my school work is going to get me the degree in engineering I want to achieve. Along with boosting my self confidence and helping me through college football has taught me to be a leader. Early in my high school football career I had to step up and become a leader of the team because of my ability. This leadership role followed me through the last three years of high school coming to the point now where I must pass on the proverbial torch to an up and coming leader from the underclass. As a leader on the football field, I also learned to be a better role model to my younger sister and brother, Katie and Eli.
