Reflections on Nutrition
I have truly enjoyed every facet of this course. I feel that this course has taught me a tremendous amount pertaining to nutrition; the things I have learned were ones in which I never thought would be so essential. This is the first course in which I can say that I really enjoyed working on the assignments. I feel the most beneficial one was the Lifespan Nutritional Needs assignment. Even though it took a long time to complete, it showed me the significance of nutrition within my life (when I was younger, presently, and when I get older). I used to consider the area of nutrition to be somewhat dull, although now that I am aware of its significance, I perceive it much differently. I also feel more comfortable about my lifestyle now that I have incorporated much healthier eating habits. The other assignments were also valuable and I enjoyed completing them as well. The discussion questions were especially valuable, as I was able to gain further insight from both the professor and my classmates; these insights will stay with me for years to come.
Some of the immediate changes I have made include insistently checking the nutritional facts on the back of the food products I purchase; this makes me more aware of what I will be eating and helps me measure my intake. I find I am much more cautious when it comes to the foods I eat when compared to before I began this course. I certainly have room to improve; however, I am making great strides and have already started feeling the positive effects. I strongly feel that this course has provided me with the tools and information to live a life that will be longer and healthier than before.
