A survey on the inadequate allocation of PTPTN money for DSB 5B students of Ungku Omar Polytechnic, 2013.

Introduction
The percentage of students who enter higher education institutions is increasing every year. Therefore, the Malaysian Government has allocated some loans for students to further their studies at a higher level, for example PTPTN loan. PTPTN loan is a system that can help student to minimize them use of their own money on expenses. Definitions of PTPTN loan is a special fund established under auspices of the Ministry of education. Besides that, the objectives of PTPTN is for offering educational loans to all eligible Malaysian students pursuing their tertiary studies at selected institutions of higher learning in country. The amount of PTPTN loan for a diploma student is RM2500 per semester. However, that amount of money is not enough for architecture students especially DSB 5B students.

Problem statement
Most of the architecture students apply PTPTN loan to further their education. However, the loan provided for the architecture is not enough to cover their studies because the equipment for architecture is too expensive. The example of equipment is mounting board, butter paper, Art liner, test pad, A4 paper and some else. Approximately in a semester, these architecture students will have to spend around RM 500- RM 1000 just to buy the equipment needs for their studies. Hence, they do not have enough money for spend on other expenses. In addition, the architecture students also do not have free time to generate income to support their studies such as doing part time job after class. This is because their need give their full 100 % focus and time to finish their project.

Objectives * To investigate the reasons for inadequate allocation of PTPTN loan for DSB 5B students. * To determine the effects of inadequate allocation of PTPTN loan for DSB 5B students. * To propose ways to curb this problem in the future.

This article is a shock and awe campaign against predatory student lending, resulting from the inflationary cost of a college degree. The data used is mostly to describe the scale of the problem, e.g. household student loan debt of $42 billion and the fact that household expense on education has nearly tripled since 1970. The data is very appropriate for the Rolling Stone audience, but it would be nice to get more clarity on some of the data. For example, Taibbi notes that the government will make $184 billion profit on student loans; it would be nice to know more about the time frame and if this is the principal or the actual income including fees. Hard to believe 184 billion as that implies a principal balance in the trillions, which is much larger than the student loan market.…

The Prepaid Affordable College Tuition Program was originally started in 1990 when then State Treasurer George Wallace, Jr. and Lt. Governor Jim Folsom, Jr. sold the Legislature on the idea. (Rawls, 1). The two-decade old PACT program allowed families to prepay tuition by buying contracts when their children were young. (Rawls, 3). The state invested much of the money that parents paid into the program in stocks to generate enough money to cover the cost of four-year tuition at a state university by the time the child finished high school (Rawls, 3). This plan seemed to work well initially. Some 48,000 families invested in the program and in September of 2007 PACT funds stood at $899 million (White, 1). But, by September of 2008, PACT funds had dropped to $606 million and by March of 2009 PACT funds stood at just $484 million (White, 1). To put this loss into perspective, “Alabama’s prepaid college tuition program has lost more than 45 percent of its value in a year and a half – including 20 percent lost to the recent stock…
