My Redemptive Vision Paper Outline
Thesis: A social issue that plagues our world today are eating disorders, but these can be helped by Christian counselors, who fix the problem by letting patients struggling with eating disorders know that they are important to God, God values their body, and that God cherishes when we recognize our weaknesses and give our burdens to him. I. Define social problem and establish that it exists somewhere in the world A. Eating Disorder

i. Webster Dictionary
1. any of several psychological disorders characterized by serious disturbances of eating behavior (medical definition) 2. “Eating disorder”
ii. Four categories
3. Anorexia Nervosa
a. Self-starvation
b. Weight loss
c. Very serious
d. “absence of appetite”
e. 15%-60% body weight is lost
f. Distorted view of their own weight or shape g. Deny health risks/consequences
4. Binge Eating Disorder
h. Eating obsessively- overeating
i. Compulsive eating twice a week for six months j. 5,000- 15,000 calories in one sitting
k. Overeating continually throughout the day
5. Bulimia Nervosa
l. Eating obsessively and getting rid of it (exercise, laxatives, regurgitation, etc.) m. Very serious
