The immediate thing that strikes our mind once we hear the word green is to plant more trees. True its surely one of the way to keep the nation green but, it takes nearly so many years for the plants to grow into trees. Apart from this if we could think of some way to save the existing trees, that according to me would make the best way to keep the nation green.

The keeping green revolves around three important R's they are REDUCE,REUSE and RECYCLE. Reduce simply means reducing the usage of things we buy. The idea around reduction of usage is that, we create less waste when we reduce buying goods. Wherever possible, replace disposable products with reusable ones (i.e., razor, food storage, batteries, ink cartridges (buy refill ink), coffee filters, furnace or air conditioner filters, etc.).We can do very simple things like making greeting cards with our hand, using cloth bags, reading books from libraries, sharing a lot of things among ourselves instead of buying things,these simple activities could save a lot of trees from being cut. In general we should Simplify our lives as much as possible. We should Only keep belongings that we use/enjoy on a regular basis. By making the effort to reduce what we own, we will naturally purchase less/create less waste in the future.

Reusing simply means repeated usage of a product. The idea behind reuse is, it avoids us from buying new goods immediately. Todays media has done a wonderful job of selling us on the attractiveness and benefits of buying "new", "improved", "special", etc. products. However, we already collectively own so much that we could all survive for quite a while on the existing products - if we just reused them a few times. the reuse should be taken very seriously, the new goods would be surely very attractive to see but, just imagine how much waste we create when we throw the existing products to replace them with new.
