Abstract

Banking is one the most sensitive businesses all over the world. Banks play very important role in the economy of a country and Bangladesh is no exception. Banks are custodian to the assets of the general masses. Dhaka Bank limited is a listed Commercial Bank having the aim of serving the community. Being a service oriented organization it always seeks to attain customer satisfaction. Customers are the most important element of this organization. So it is needless to say the importance of management of the banking. Banking is carried out by bankers who are the human resource of this organization. Each and every organization has two types of resources which include both human and non-human resources. Human resources operate and manage the non-human resources so it is much more important to manage the human resources of a service type organization.

The policies and practices involved in carrying out the ‘people’ or human resource aspects of a management position including recruiting, screening, training, rewarding and appraising are defined as Human Resource Management. The activities of human resource management are carried out by the Human Resource Division of Dhaka Bank Limited. All other Divisions are clients to HRD because it provides various services to those divisions. So it is too much important to analyze the human resource practice of HRD. By recognizing the importance of the matter, this report is prepared on the ‘Human Resource Management Practice at Dhaka Bank Limited’. Although it is on the basis of HR Practice, it includes basic information about the organization. Realizing the significance of HR Practice this report is dealt with basically the ‘Recruitment and Selection Process, Training and Development Program and Performance Appraisal’ of Dhaka Bank Limited.

This report is divided into five chapters. First chapter contains the introductory part of this report which includes background of the topic, significance and rationale of the topic, objectives and limitations of this report.

Second chapter deals with methodology which includes the sources of data, population size, sample size, sampling technique, data analysis and tools used to prepare the report. The whole process of preparing the report is presented here.
