Introduction
This is a report written for Sharon Woods. Sharon is a self-employed beautician who is in need of a computer system to use in her business and for personal use and so came to I for advice. Sharon has a beauticians in the city centre, But will also be using her computer system at home in her study. The computer system will need to have the facilities so that Sharon can use it for her business needs. Such as advertising, creating invoices and letters, keeping track of her accounts and to use the internet and an e-mail facility. On a personal note, Sharon’s computer system should be able to access the internet for some online shopping, downloading music, creating CD’s and have the facility for a personal e-mail address as well as the aforementioned business e-mail. Speakers are also important as Sharon will not only want to play music for herself but expressed the possibility of using the computer system to play music for her customers while they are receiving beauty treatments in her beautician. However this does throw up licensing issue laws and I shall inform her of this. Sharon has unlimited broadband in her home, But however does not currently have any means of using the internet at her beauticians.Sharon has set a budget of between £500-£700 for her new computer system.

Computer Systems

Due to Sharon needing to use her computer system in both her beauticians and at home in her study I am going to recommend her a laptop rather than a desktop system. The three laptops I have chosen to compare are: ACER Aspire S3-391 Ultrabook (Acer)

£499.99

Lenovo U410 Ultra book (Lenovo)
£599.99

Sony VAIO S Series SVS1312J3EW (Sony VAIO) £699.99

Acer
The Acer comes with a Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Operating System (OS). Within this OS comes the software package ‘Microsoft Office’. Within this package is Microsoft Word, Publisher and Excel amongst others. However the three mentioned programmes will enable Sharon to carry-out the tasks of creating advertisements, invoices, letters and keeping track of her accounts. In this software package is also Microsoft Outlook, Which is an e-mail account software which would be useful for Sharon when using her business and personal e-mails. It also comes internet ready with wireless and the browser Internet Explorer pre-installed. It also comes installed with Windows Media Player which will allow Sharon to create and burn her own CD’s along with the DVD Re-Writer. It also weighs only 1.36 kilograms and therefore would be ideal for transporting between work and home for Sharon.

Lenovo
The Lenovo comes with a Windows 8 basic OS. With this OS comes Windows newest version of the ‘Microsoft Works’ software program which will enable Sharon to carry out the creation of advertisements, invoices, letters and keep track of her accounts all inside the one program. Again, It comes internet ready with wireless and the browser Internet Explorer pre-installed. It also comes installed with Windows Media Player which will allow Sharon to create and burn her own CD’s along with the DVD Re-Writer. The Lenovo weighs in at 1.8 kilograms. Sony VAIOThe Sony VAIO comes with Windows 8 basic OS. However unlike the Lenovo it does not come with any Microsoft office software package at all. But as with the other two laptops it comes internet ready with wireless and the browser Internet Explorer pre-installed.It also comes installed with Windows Media Player which will allow Sharon to create and burn her own CD’s along with the Supermulti Drive. The Sony VAIO...
