With all the effort that is being put into preserving and saving the environment, it is important that Alumina Inc. takes protective measure to ensure that all is being done to assist in these efforts. Alumina Inc. takes personal interest in protecting the environment not only because of the legal responsibility given by the government to do so, but because of moral values and standard of the company. As a leading manufacturer of aluminum the government has set strict regulations and guidelines for the company that allows the expectations to be fully understood. It is in the best interest of the company to have a plan that will identify and manage regulatory risk through preventive, detective, and corrective measures.
In order to effectively identify and manage regulatory risk there is a need for preventative measures, such as providing a copy of all the mandated laws of the EPA, and the federal government in regards to the pollution of the environment and water to all employees of Alumina. There should be a training class that focuses specifically on these laws and regulations to ensure that every employee fully understands the importance protecting the quality of the environment. Every employee should be made aware and trained on any new or updated laws in regards to these issues. Alumina should also promote environmental quality and ensure the community that every necessary resource is being used to ensure that all is being done to provide quality natural resources.
In 2005 “Alumina was reported to be in violation of environmental discharge norms in a routine EPA compliance evaluation inspection.” “The PAH concentration in test samples was above the prescribed limit.
