Through the past few years, and due to different theoretical and empirical studies performed, MCS have been demonstrated to be an important element in improving innovation. Moreover, innovation has a crucial role in the product development process which is a key aspect in a company. Therefore, as stated in the article on page 324, it is essential to have a clear understanding of (1) which are the reasons-for-adoption of MCS in the product development process, (2) what is the relationship between the reasons-for-adoption and the speed of adoption, and (3) what is the relationship between the reasons-for-adoption and the performance measurement of the product development process. Due to the importance of the adoption of MCS, I have prepared the following article review which is based on a field research study performed among 69 technology-based companies. This field research study focus on providing a better understanding of why is important the adopt MCS in early-stages companies, by analyzing the collected data and providing answers to the three questions above expressed. PURPORSE OF THE FIELD STUDY REASEARCH The purpose of the field study research was to collect and analyze sufficient information (through public data, questionnaires, and interviews) regarding the product development process of companies operating in an early-stage, that would lead to a framework of answers to why MCS are adopted, when are MCS adopted and how MCS benefit performance measurement.
