Real World Applications to OD Principles

I am the owner of a retail dry goods store with a maximum of 100 employees. Most of our customers are employees from an automotive support industry who just announced they are relocating to Mexico. The relocation of this company will hinder our sales as well as our organization. My goal is to analyze the challenges our organization will face using OD principles and how would I apply OD principles in order to ensure the continued operation of my company. When a company is faced with this type of challenge, finding resolutions to withstand the drastic affects is of top priority. Organizational development often refers to an organizations future readiness to meet change. My intentions are to change the basics of beliefs, relevance of values, and structure of the current organization to better absorb disruptive technologies, shrinking or exploding market opportunities and ensuing challenges and chaos. As our world changes amongst us, we have to evolve with it or we will find ourselves evaporating as a whole. I am fearful that my company will evaporate or dissolve due to the major change in our town. Changing the basics of beliefs in my employees is one way that I will ensure my company remains afloat. With the recent changes, employees may be fearful of losing their jobs. I would have to instill in them that we can and will remain a fully operational organization with the help of everyone. I would not want to give them false hope, but I will be totally honest with them. This will allow employees to believe in me, as their leader. In a time when the entire town is in an uproar, our organization will have to remind employees the relevance of values in order to keep morale high within the organization.
