I didn’t personally like the book I thought it wasn’t very exciting. Maybe if the book was more exciting or had more twist or turns it would be more enjoyable. It did change my attitude about boys being smarter than girls but even when Calpurnia was talk all science to her brother he had no idea what she was talking about. I probably would not recommend this book unless you're more into having the same idea throughout the whole…

Although at times it was hard to follow what was exactly happening in the book. I felt like the book jumped around a lot because each chapter was a different event that happened throughout the year. I didn’t know when the events occurred so at times it was confusing. In addition, the book was older so it was hard to make connections with the book and my everyday life.…

It gave me in depth understanding of the South and the way that they interact with the rest of the country. As a woman from the west coast I only know of the great migration of African Americans from the South to the North. But now I understand it was not just because of the poor way that they were treated but for many more reasons. The couldn’t get work because they were thought of as inferior, and it was made harder for them to vote people of the long lines and the voting tax. ‘The southern Negro’ had to be my favorite chapter. The only thing I disliked was how the book justified why the South wouldn’t free the slaves. The booked looked at in more of an economic…

[1] Ray Bradbury, the author of Fahrenheit 451, was born on August 22, 1920 in Waukegan, Illinois. He has had a love for books ever since he was a small boy, and would always stop to plunder local libraries in search for some of his favorite books. At first, he writing choice of style was science fiction. Later, he came to write regular fiction. [2] Fahrenheit 451 was written in the 1950’s. During this time period, there was a lot going on that definitely influenced the book. First, in the 50’s there was a lot of suspicion. This was so bad that one day, while Bradbury and one of his writer friends were on a walk, a police officer stopped them and asked them what they were doing. Bradbury has the wiseacre reply of: “putting one foot in front…

It had humor, real life events, sadness, and suspense. I would most definitely recommend this novel to someone because although it’s very long, you won’t want to stop reading it. This book will make you wonder, cry, even laugh. It’s a book that I think had great meaning and was put together very well. In my opinion, there is no flaws about this book except how long it is.…

I personally found this book to be a very good read. Charles Mann is a fantastic writer, and he makes everything about this book interesting. He knows how to put things so that he really grabs the reader's attention and keeps you interested to learn more. He is very descriptive and words things in a way that is understandable for me, the reader. He also has a very extensive vocabulary, which makes the reading even more interesting. Mann also uses tons of information that he has gathered. He makes very good points to his topics, as well, and he makes these points very clear. Because of this, I did not find anything that I really disagreed with him on.…

I chose this book because I started reading a while ago in school and liked it, but the class stopped reading it and moved into the book not far into the book. Overall I really enjoyed this book. Even the parts I did not like very much still caught my attention. An example of this is the section pertaining to how real estate agents may not try their very hardest to get you the best deal. Although this makes absolute sense in the simplest manner, much like everything in this book, it is not the easiest to stomach. While the real estate agents only lose a couple hundred dollars in commission, a buyer or seller can lose thousands of dollars because of an antsy real estate agent. Another example of a part that I did not like was the excerpt on the teachers cheating for their students. I was completely put off by this because in the end, the students ended up in a worse spot than where they were original. Standardized testing is put in place to make…

Form, Structure, and Plot: The novel is organized in an effective way which allows the reader to be able to understand and keep up with the plot. There are only 9 chapters, 180 pages in total. The lengths of chapters barely differ. In the beginning of the book, there were only 2 to 3 chapters that fell under 20 pages. The rest were fairly long in length.…
