In today's world with so much more to know and to learn, the importance of reading has increased. I would like to mention that for my parents, especially for my dad, reading has always been a favorite hobby. Partly due to this fact, I have always received positive emotions while reading. If both of one of the parents often read, the likelihood that their child will want to receive positive emotions from this activity is very high. On the other hand, if parents do not read but require a child to read too much, the reading can become a field of resistance between the child and his or her parents. Reading has always been an easy and pleasant leisure for my parents. I am immensely grateful to my father who was an influential literacy sponsor and still has the biggest impact on me. I am used to see my dad who is a cardiologist working on his own development and expanding his knowledge in many fields. We have a family tradition to read a science book every month and later discuss some of its points together. I find such kind of pastime to be truly useful and…

Books are very helpful for many people by developing one’s mind. Books are very important because they help pass time, helps write and think better, and help ones imagination. Hari states, “A book gives the capacity for deep, linear concentration. As Ulin puts: ‘Reading is an act of resistance in a landscape of distraction… it requires us to pace ourselves. It returns us to a reckoning with time. In the midst of a book, we have the choice but to be patient, to take each thing in its moment, to let the narrative prevail. We regain the world by withdrawing from it just a little, by stepping back from the noise,’” which is a very good reason why people should put their electronic devices aside and free themselves from the drama in today’s world which is kind of hard to do now. Very disappointing, I must say.…

I never understood the point of reading. My parents first introduced my siblings and I to its world at the early age of two. We were familiarized with letters, taught to link sound the visual and formed words with a stuttering start. We became accustomed to the quiet of Tuesday nights when my father would sit huddled on the sofa – my mother curled up in bed – his long nose buried in a novel, a black curtain cascading from her head to the pages, morphing into one with their respective books. As the night drew close the browns of their eyes would light up, while my mother’s red lips would quiver with excitement and my father would flash a lopsided smile. “Reading is an adventure,” they’d say. I never believed them.…
