Last December 3to December 5, 2012, the School of Business and Computer Studies Department of St. Dominic College of Asia held an educational tour, or what they called it “Lakbay Aral”. At almost 6 AM that time, we departed from Cavite to start our most awaited trip at the following itineraries: Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Traveller’s Hotel, Subic Bay Airport, Rajah Soliman Hotel at Baguio, Ibay’s Silver Shop, The Mansion, The Wright Park, Mine’s View Park, Strawberry Farm, Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto, and the last is Burnham Park . The Educational tour started out as an escape from school for most of us students, bonding with friends, chance to unwind and of course, to learn new things and to gain knowledge at the same time that we may apply someday.
First, we went to Subic Bay Freeport Zone, it is almost 9A.M. that time. When we enter the building, we were so amazed, especially the room where the seminar was held. At that seminar, the speaker discussed some short briefings about history of the Freeport, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, and other incentives and advantages of being there at Subic. When the seminar finished, we go straight to the dining room, and we ate our lunch there. After that we go to our next destination, the Subic Bay Airport.
When we entered the airport, it is so secured. There are some restrictions like bringing deadly weapons or just telling a prank about bombs to the guard, because in that case they have their own law that we as tourist needs to abide. It has a fine worth P 50,000 if we do that bomb prank. Inside the airport, they have discussed some short briefings about the law we should follow inside the airport. And after the short visit in the airport, we go straight to our next destination, to Baguio City.
Mentioning Baguio City, first few thoughts that came to my mind are pine trees, cool temperature, fresh vegetables and strawberries, cultural and historical variety. So though I’m really sleepy because we departed late in the afternoon I can’t sleep because my classmate were so noisy and it’s a six-hour ride that’s why I find ways to enjoy myself while were travelling.
While travelling I can really justify how creative our Almighty God is. Baguio is a city in a high altitude, a plateau that we can have a good view of the surrounding scenery.
As our bus went higher up however, we came upon a zigzag road, and I couldn’t help but pray that we may arrive safely. More than the fear however, is the excitement of the place that we will go through. My adventure in Baguio is one that I shall never forget. That’s why I’m recollecting now the pieces that are still vivid in my memory.
It was already 10 P.M. when we got to the Rajah Soliman Hotel. We were so tired and sleepy that time, so the faculty have decided that the Pajama Party that was scheduled that time has been postponed. So it’s our time to relax, take pictures and take a sleep.
The day after, first thing in the morning after we woke up, we ate breakfast as fast as we can because we have so many destinations that day. So after that, we get ready for our tour in Baguio. Our first stop that day was Ibay’s Silver Shop. We saw many different kinds of accessories and figurines that is made up of silver. And it is half the price cheaper than the accessories made up of silver in Manila.
After that, our next stop was at the Philippine Military Academy. We saw some of the militaries there jogging around. We also saw some of the old tanks, and planes there. So, we grabbed the opportunity there to take a picture. After that, we go back to the Rajah Soliman Hotel to eat our lunch. We go to our perspective rooms and rest for a while....
