According to the text, ”Rationalism is a doctrine which gives the discursive reason as the only possible source of all real knowledge. According to Louis-Marie Morfaux, rationalism takes in all doctrines that attribute to human reason the capacity to know and establish the truth.” Leibniz, in his “Essays on Theodicy” (1710), formulated in the following way:“Nothing happens without a cause or at the very least, a determined reason” “All that is real is rational and all that is rational is real” (Preface to Principles of the Philosophy of Right). Holding that reality itself has an inherently logical structure, the rationalist asserts that a class of truths exists that the intellect can grasp directly. Applied to a business, rationalism led to the scientific organization of work. According to the video,” Video: Fordism”, it illustrates how Henry Ford use the rational management techniques to initiate mass production. This kind of scientific organization of production has dominated business thinking for many years. This rational system does reduce the price and improve the efficiency at that time. In Henry Ford’s rational system, standard design was one of the most essential components. It started out with the principle that its car would be consist of all the different standard design parts of a car. The idea is that once you standardize design of the car you can standardize the entire production system. Standardized parts means production can be repeated over and over again because the parts are identical.
