The reform use information gained from the High Court decision in the case Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs v Khawar (2002) 210 CLR 1. The reforms mainly focus on the reforming of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth) where the ALRC recommends that the Minster for Immigration and Citizenship should issue direction in relation to family violence in refugee assessment determination. The report is useful to my research topic, as ALRC identifies issues in the assessment of refugees as well as provides recommendations for reforms in order to protect the human rights of the vulnerable group. Main limitation of this report is that it primarily focuses on the family violence issues suffered by refugees but does not expand to any other problems suffered by refugee. Despite this, the report still suggests recommendations that are intended support the victims of family violence under the Refugee Convention. This article will be included in suggesting and influencing other reforms put out in my essay in order to enhance protection of human rights of the vulnerable…

The author has a difficult time supporting, and ultimately doesn't prove, his second argument. To support the argument he only focuses on general opinions and anecdotes instead of the many details he provided for the first argument. He discusses how annoying the new antiterrorism procedures are and how much money we've wasted on them, but can't document that they are really useless.…

Good morning members of the Annual Human Rights Commission. I am here to speak about Australia’s imposition of mandatory detention, for the asylum seekers who arrive in Australia by boat without visa’s and how this is in violation of common human rights principles. An asylum seeker is a person who has left their home country as a political refugee and is seeking asylum in another country. This policy was introduced in 1992 and has since been a highly controversial issue that has generated considerable debate. The policy of mandatory detention is in breach of a number of international human rights conventions and should therefore be repealed. This will be proven through an examination of the legislation, an analysis of a case that has challenged…

The important positive aspect of the voting in favour of the resolution is that, the Government of India has finally proved that India stands alongside the Sri Lankan Tamils and they will be ‘there’ for the benefit of the people. It is a welcome stand by the Government, even though it happened after a tough political lobbying between the regional parties of Tamil Nadu. It also shows that India acts in its own show its commitment to shun violence against the unarmed civilians and for their rehabilitation. As the whole Tamil Community people were looking forward for India to act, the GoI (Government of India) did the right thing to garner their support. It may also put an end to the Zigzag diplomacy followed by the Rajapaksha’s Government (Giving a Commitment when Foreign minister of India reaches in Sri Lanka due to pressure from the Tamil Nadu politicians and when he boards the flight, commitment will be in dustbin). May be there is a minute possibility of taking Rajapaksha’s Government to the ICC (International Criminal Court) for the war crime.…

Everyone has a story or past that needs to be shared, whether it is good or bad. There may be someone out there who is going through or who went through the same thing you did. The only way to find out is by opening up. By openly sharing your experience, others will follow suit. If you have ever been in an abusive relationship you know what I am talking about. We have to stand together as one, we have to be brave and help others, both young and old, cope with the past or get out of the abusive relationship now. This is why I am telling my story, so others like me will be able to stand up and get out before it is too late.…
