Restaurant Rating of Jollibee
Jose Garcia

QSR: Jollibee Taft (Right on front of One Archers Place)

1) Product Elements
D NI S VS E The food in this branch was top notch and would certainly belong to the Jollibee branches of higher quality. Service was also quick and easily accessible. It does not stop in the counter as staff goes around the restaurant for them to attend to your needs as well. This is not too common in QSR’s that I’ve been to.

2) Price
D NI S VS E Prices in this Jollibee branch were just enough to show for its quality. It can go as low as 39 pesos to around 150 pesos for the main meal and 25-60 pesos for add-ons. They have affordable meals fit for most of the socio-economic income classes. Excellent pricing is one of the reasons why Jollibee remains as one of the top contenders in the QSR industry.

3) Placement, Time, and Cyberspace
D NI S VS E

The placement of Jollibee was very strategic. Placing it right on front of a school filled with students having a limited budget for food is a great decision. However, this Jollibee branch falls short in the time it is open as it closes at probably 10 or so at night. It gives McDonalds an advantage as they still have a market in the wee hours of the day. Jollibee’s website is very informative and is consistent with every branch so this would have a high rating.

4) Promotions and education
D NI S VS E This specific Jollibee opened not too long ago but seems to be attracting a lot of customers despite minimal promotions. This branch had strong word-of-mouth as when students saw this being built, world spread like wildfire. Jollibee need not spend too much in promotions in this area as it practically did it on its own.

5) Productivity and Quality
D NI S VS E

Jollibee has a website that you could send your queries to but has no immediate reassurance that your queries will be replied to. Perhaps a better way of getting your word through would be through social networking but this is no

First off, the food has been amazing every time I have been there. This time I ate the chicken critters (tenders) with steak fries and green beans and it was very delicious. We didn’t wait maybe ten minutes from getting our appetizer and we already had our entrée. To me that is an excellent waiting time considering it was fresh food. Also the price is very understandable considering the amount of food I got. Overall I would rate the food a ten, it was amazing and always has been.…

Jollibee was able to build its dominant position in fast food in the Philippines for a number of reasons. The company had its roots in the food industry in the Philippines early on with the ice cream business, so the entry barrier into fast food was very low. It was a smooth transition from being ice cream only to fast food after the oil crisis in 1977. This transition was also aided by using a recipe that was developed in the Philippines and was appealing to the markets that were serviced by Jollibee’s. This would eventually be a contributing factor in the competitive advantage Jollibee held over McDonald’s in it’s the Philippins. Jollibee also built itself around the solid foundation of the “Five F’s”. Friendliness, flavorful food, fun atmosphere, flexibility and focus on families summed up Jollibee’s philosophy and allowed for Jollibee to become a recognizable brand throughout the Philippines. The operations and marketing strategies employed by the company can be credited with establishing a dominant position through the previously mentioned actions.…

Walking into a fast food joint, one expects to be met by a sweet aroma of the delicious foods that are quite appealing. Considering they are supposed to serve customers as fast as they can while at the same time maintaining quality service. Upon entering a fast food restaurant, one would expect to have a view of the whole place in a glance, with counters just around the bend for customers to make their purchase. One would also expect to find people around helping customers make fast purchases as well as clearing tables for people to eat. Without such quality, a fast food restaurant cannot be up to par. Burger King is the fast food restaurant I visited a few days ago, and fortunately did not disappoint my expectations; rather, I was surprised by their smooth, fast service and tasty foods as well as the restaurant itself.…

Everyone suspects that their hamburger is where Jollibee's came from - They almost have the same taste. Their fried chicken is also just like Jollibee's, but this time it was Tropical who copied it. Tropical has other food selections, like Bistek (a local version of beef steak er strips) and other sandwiches. However, the place is not world class. It is not as clean nor as well kempt as McDonald's or Jollibee. And they have a very poor image. Although food is good, you wouldn't want to be seen…
