Quasi Turbine
1.INTRODUCTION

Quasi turbine is a zero vibration continuous combustion rotary engine having four faces articulated rotor with a free and accessible centre rotating without vibration nor dead time and producing a strong torque at low rpm under a variety of modes and fuels. The quasi turbine is also an optimization theory for extremely compact efficient engine concept.

It is a new engine concept from Canada which offers a design similar to that of rotary engines but with the advantages of a gas turbine-all within the confines of a chamber based on the shape of a Saint Hilaire skating rink profile. Each Quasi turbine device is at the cross road of three modern engines: inspired by the turbines: it perfects the piston, and improves on the Wankel. The Quasi turbine results from a research initiated in 1993 aimed at unifying the compression and power turbine into one entity. This invention is a new hybrid engine concept, midway between the piston and the turbine engine which requires relatively few components such as stator with covers, rotating blades, rocking carriages, wheels, and joints. Quasi turbine is also an environmental friendly engine, which provides an engine concept free from atmospheric gas pollution, noise pollution, thermal pollution etc. In this engine efficiency stays constant and optimum no matter the power of the unit.

2.OBJECTIVES

Objective of this invention is to provide a new engine concept unifying the compressor and power turbine into one entity that is a conventional gas turbine engine. Another object of this invention is to provide a low noise, perfectly balanced, zero vibration, low r.p.m engine, giving less time to compression and expansion stroke and allowing more time and volume to the intake combustion stroke.

A turbocharger is designed to use the engine’s wasted energy to create more power. As exhaust gases come out of the exhaust manifold, they pass through the turbine housing side of the turbo. As the extremely hot gas pass by the heat causes the turbine wheel to spin. This wheel is connected to a shaft which is connected to a…

Thomas Newcomen, with the assistance of John Calley, created the world’s very first Atmospheric Steam Engine using Savery’s original design. Newcomen’s engine made use of an innovation that was until this point, unseen. They made use of a piston or cylinder that moved a large piece of wood to drive the water pump. They avoided the use of steam pressure, but gravity to pull down the pump side of the wooden piece; hence, the name Atmospheric steam engine. This allowed the condensation process to happen quicker, which in return, made the engine run faster. This type of engine was very new technology for its time and was more practical and effective than Savery’s engine; Newcomen’s engine design remained in use for over 200 years. However, his engine required a lot of energy which would later be improved upon by future inventors. The atmospheric steam engine was much cheaper than regular steam engines, which allowed its existence to flourish. The creation of this steam engine also allowed for later creations of both trains and other atmospheric steam engines to utilize the design. On this note, the Newcomen’s engine was a major contribution to the modernization of the steam engine as it opened a completely new path for steam engines to come. Therefore, give credit where credit is due; Newcomen was a major contributor to the modernization of the steam…

The recent acquisition of French energy company Alstom by General Electric has made a lot of headlines in the world recently. This is one of the largest acquisitions by the General Electric and involved a lot of complexities. The Alstom’s board of directors was ready to cut the deal with General Electric but French government has made this deal as the national pride and tried to interfere. They opposed this deal on the ground of loss of jobs in France but in reality the French government didn’t want a Unites States of America’s company to acquire a major power company of France. They have made it a pride issue. Arnaud Montebourg, economy and industry minister of France even made changes in the law so that government can veto the deal. Siemens, a German company which is in the power business in collaboration with Hitachi and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) made a counter offer to the Alstom Company. They got the support of the French government. As this deal was very important and critical for the General Electric, they revised their bid and made a new offer to the Alstom,’s board of director. Jeffrey R. Immelt, CEO of General Electric, personally call French President, Francois Horellande to give assurance that no jobs will be lost with the finalization of this deal. French government was also acquired 20% stakes in Alstom. Thus French government becomes a member of Alstom’s heavy duty gas turbine business. As a part of this deal General Electric’s and Alstom 's also form a 50:50 joint venture in renewable and electric grid business, and a 50:50 joint venture in Alstom 's steam turbine and nuclear power business. General Electric also announced to sell its rail signaling business to Alstom. Alstom wants to focus on railway signaling business so this provided an excellent opportunity for the Alstom to pursue its interest by leveraging on the capabilities it acquired through General Electric’s rail signaling business.…

A turbofan engine is found on all commercial airliners around the globe. The turbofan engine works by way of a thermodynamic cycle where air is taken into the engine, then compressed, combusted, expanded, and finally exhausted out of the engine. This creates thrust in the engine and causes the vehicle to propel forward or backwards. These steps are carried out by the five major engine components: the fan, compressor, combustor, turbine, and exhaust nozzle. The compressor and turbine contain high and low pressures. These components are shown in Figure 1. In Figure 2, it shows all the 5 main components of the engine starting from 1 and then towards the end to 5.…

In the first approach, the engine captures the heat lost from the four-stroke Otto cycle or Diesel cycle and uses it to power an additional power and exhaust stroke of the piston in the same cylinder. Designs use either steam or air as the working fluid for the additional power stroke.[1] The pistons in this type of six-stroke engine go up and down three times for each injection of fuel. There are two power strokes: one with fuel, the other with steam or air. The currently notable designs in this class are the Crower six-stroke engine, invented by Bruce Crower of the U.S.; the Bajulaz engine by the Bajulaz S.A. company of Switzerland; the Velozeta Six-stroke engine built by the College of Engineering, at Trivandrum in India; and the NIYKADO Six Stroke Engine invented by Chanayil Cleetus Anil, NIYKADO Motors, India under patent number IN252642 granted on 25 May 2012.…
