Activity 10.

Part A. Explain the term Confidentility:
Confidentiality is a right a person has in which to keep information about themselves private without anyone else being able to access it unless given permission or consent by an authorised person. A person's information should only be disclosed on a need to know basis i.e official bodies or next of kin unless specified otherwise. Information may also be disclosed if the information that is being held outweighs the risk to the person's health.

Part B. Give a brief explanation of how you confidentially:
Communicate with individuals: If you were to communicate with individuals where confidentiality is involved you would only speak about what the individual is comfortable with. You would not speak of any personal information unless the individual consents especially in ear shot or in front of other residents, staff or family. The conversation would happen where the individual is comfortable i.e their room or in a room they choose where the door would be closed.
Communicate with colleagues: Collegues Should only discuss information about a resident if it is entirely mandatory or benefits the care they recieve, no personal information that has been discussed between you and a resident should be disclosed to any other persons. That resident has confided and trusted in you. The communication about a resident would take place in the staff office where no other member of staff or public person was present amd the door woudl be closed.
Communicate with individuals ' family members and friends: When communicating with family and friends of a resident no personal details about the resident should be discussed under any circumstances without prior consent from the resident r on a need to know or right to know basis. Communicatuon with a family meber or friend would take place in a room where the door could be closed and the conversation could not be overheard.
