Purpose of Darbar

Purpose of a Darbar (MAny Barelwi's follow)?
Assalaam Alaykum

What are the purpose of Darbar's that many people have bulit in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh?

p.s Darbar= a place where many 'pious' people are buried.

Darbar Is how we say it in the language I speak (Mirpuri known a punjabi)

Alhamdulillah I don't participate in it, but I was just curious how and what purpose it was for as many people I know follow these! So Insha'Allah once I have a better understanding I may be able to help them for them to move away from wrong!

Its called a Dargah (Darbar means something else)

The purpose is...to "respect them"...? There are some people who argue for it, saying its just because they were good people, but even that is forbidden. People go there and pray to them to pray to Allah for certain things (intercession).
People take flowers to their graves and drape layers of sheets over it. Many even believe they have powers (I have no idea what). A lot of bid'ah over there.

Once I was in India, and suddenly it started raining heavily, and one person said loudly "This is the mercy of Khwaja Chisti" (The shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti is almost like a tourist location) Astaghfirullah...

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) even forbade to make a raised grave, never mind all this. This is clear shirk due to ignorance. May Allah guide them.

Its a deep rooted belief in some parts, it might not be easy to get them to leave it.
