In class today we went covered various topics, but the topic we seemed to concentrate on the class syllabus. Many important topics were covered in the syllabus such as ways to get a hold of Professor Ryan if you need extra help and the course objective and goals of the course. In the course objective the word extemporaneously was used, and also in the lecture. I was puzzled about the definition of the world, but later found out that it meant to research and rehearse the topic you chose for your speech. Also covered in the course outline was how much your speech and the written requirement would count as your grade. We learned how to grade our peer’s speeches correctly by giving them constructive criticism and not destructive. (Example Constructive- Telling them what you learned from their speech or what you liked about it, or telling them that they used the word like too much or they needed to speak up a little.) We also talked about the plagiarism policy and taking somebody else’s thoughts and ideas and trying to pass them off as your own will not be tolerated and result in an F in the entire course. We were given the chance to join into the honors option program and although it does sound interesting being a full time student right now I think the work load for me would be too much. We were given a piece of paper which showed us the weekly library hours, and informed that we have the option to use one of the free tutors on campus if we were having   any trouble in the course. I think that’s a good option to have and will definitely come in great use to me during this course. We did an exercise which was called repeat itself testing, which I felt a little skeptical about at first, but later realized that it really helped me to memorize things.
