Communication and Collaboration Strategy Paper
Todays teams can operate virtually, without the physical limitations of distance or time. We can use electronic collaboration technology and other techniques to leverage the individual diversity that we can find on today’s teams.
When developing a strategy for communication and collaboration you must anticipate the learning style and personality styles of your team. Each team has its own unique characteristics, interests and concerns. Each presents it own challenges and opportunities. Looking at a team that consists of the following personality types; Thinker, Organizer and Giver in an online environment, it may be helpful to use email threads for communication. The thinker and the organizer will both contribute well in an email thread because it allows for structure. Email threads allow the reader to keep and organize or reflect on what is being discussed. The giver likes to study and offer assistance to others, which can also be found in the email thread format.
This will enable the team to better collaborate when they come together to complete the project. It is possible that the thinker will have analyzed the situation from all angles and would be able to easily layout a timeline or graph of his thought process that will lead the organizer to establish a timeline and the giver will keep everyone calm. The learning styles of Verbal-Linguistic, Interpersonal and Intrapersonal can create a good working environment. The Verbal-Linquistic learner would stand out as the voice of the group, The Interpersonal learner would be able to motivate the team while the Intrapersonal learner would bring well thought out process to the table for team discussion.
