CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
This Chapter will present the background of the Study, Objectives, Scope and Delimitation, Significance of the Study, and Statement of the Problem. 1.1 Background of the Study
Due to lack of school facilities and resources, Palawan State University - Narra basically started from scratch. With the effort of the pioneering Campus Director, Dr. Manarpaac, it successfully opened the Center’s path to success. The institution has been founded as an Extramural Studies Center situated in the Local Government of Narra. The Centers reputations are gradually attaining credibility to collegiate students and interest to graduating high school students. The university has accomplished numerous things in its 10 years, giving adequate on both academic and extra-curricular performances, but it is set for greater heights. On May 2002, the Center was opened and started to accept students for the school year 2002-2003. The number of enrolees reaches 101 eager Narranon young dreamers on its first year of enrollment. The enrollment figure doubles every year, thus, earning the title as the “Most Explosive Center in PSU”. The Palawan State University-Narra is still employing a manual enrollment system for the past several years since the institution began. During the enrollment, the Registrar’s Office uses manual system as a way of recording and retrieving student information, whereas, Accounting Office administers student’s payment manually. After 10 years of the institution, from 101 enrolees, it increased to 600 and still growing every year. The proponents conducted some surveys and random interviews around the school premises and found out that the enrollment system has always been a difficult task, and more so today than ever before, where administrators uses the traditional way of filing records on a cabinet. As the population of the students goes up, it is becoming more complex. Data should be stored in safer places, and can be retrieved easily and fast when someone needs it. The manual enrollment system is too slow and too difficult for the administration to manage rising population of the students, several working places which cause the primary distress of the students, lacking of staff and faculty members who are knowledgeable enough on handling and managing the entire enrollment. Hence, the proponents come up to an idea of automating the Palawan State University-Narra Enrollment System. System Automation is a control system that manages processes in industrial workplace. It reduced human errors and processing time, thus it can boost productivity and resulted into high quality of product produce. In Information System, computerization is concerned about interrelating different but interdependent transactions. This can result in a system with well-integrated processes that can perform much faster and more accurate than a manual system. It can used particularly in recording and retrieving, tracking student’s information in which the school can trace the standing of a student and verifying payments to update or browse student’s billings. This system is entitled “Palawan State University- Narra Automated Enrollment System”. As a result, it will benefit not only the student but the administration as a whole.

1.2 Objectives
1.2.1 General Objectives
To develop an Automated Enrollment System that help to ease the problems in managing records on enrolling old and new students and to boost up enrollment process of Palawan State University-Narra.

1.2.2 Specific Objectives:
